I don't know if this has been posted yet but I looked through the first page and didn't see it.

According to IGN Wii's editor Mark Bozon,

"Meta Knight, oddly enough, is our favorite thus far, as he can unleash absolutely insane attacks, including a fully controllable whirlwind, and warping down attack (similar to Kirby's down special, but faster), the ability to fly for recovery, and a flipping slice up into the air, followed by a horizontal dash. Every other fight was extremely close, but when we moved to Meta Knight it was no contest. Four KO points, no defeats, and an easy victory in our first timed battle with the fighter."

This worries me. I'm hoping Metaknight isn't broken, and if he is as of now, Nintendo nerfs him. Of course his dominance could just be because of lack of knowledge of how to play the game or the use of advanced techniques, but... I have nothing else to go by and I'm still worried a bit.

The full article can be found here if anyone wants to read it.

It's alpha.

They'll probably tweak MetaKnight after they hear responses and opinions from gamers not in the company.

It seems that Metaknight simply has an easier learning curve than the other characters (Hello SSB Kirby) wether or not his dominace will continue will be fully tested once Brawl is released.

I know I jumped the gun, I'm just so exited for information any little tid bit scares the crapola out of me xD. Also if you watch the gameplay videos on IGN, you get addicted, I keep watching them over and over.

Edit: By the way, character introductions before battle are being re-introduced, it's proved by the videos.

Guys, when Melee was launched it was all...

LINK = GOD! Link = GOD! Up B = GOD!

Remember, these guys don't know how to even wavedash, they suck.
Because everyone sucks if they don't know every glitch of a game when it launches.......

I read that and was a little concerned too, as myself and others have had the feeling Metaknight was going to be godly, with his comeback, high damage, decent speed, and combos.

he looks like brawls sheik, but dont worry no matter how good he is, the more people use him the more other people will figure out ways to counter him, that is unless hes broken beyond the point of beating, in that case they have some changes to make

IGN editors are terrible at Smash though. All that means is that Meta Knight is noob friendly. Just like Fox, or Link, but it doesn't automatically make them god tier, just because they're noob friendly,

Yeah, there's not much you can draw from as to whether or not a character is broken with IGN.

As a few others have said, they suck.

In fact, we probably will all suck for the first few months of playing while we discover techniques and strategies with each character in the roster.

...and if you're worried that a character such as Metaknight will be broken, then.. well.. I hate to burst your bubble, but.. someone out there in that roster will be broken. If it's not Metaknight, it will be someone else. It's pretty inevitable that we are going to find out some kind of technique that makes them top tier.

Remember.. Fox's shine was originally meant to just reflect things... and now we've figured out that it's a move that can not only reflect things, but also infinitely combo someone, indefinitely kill almost any character at virtually any percentage, and plenty of other things.

Don't EVER trust IGN. Just enjoy seeing the game in motion and forget anything you read there. =|

WELLL it's not only IGN whos saying this. But it's not like everyone there was a reg smash player or anything. Someone there wrote his review and that was his very first time playing ANY Smash game.

Plus just look at them. . . .they where just spamming attacks that seemed to do something semi-flashy like anyone with a game they never played. I mean, I have yet to see ONE person properly use Sonic (in a way that DIDN'T make him look like a lev 3 CPU) and if theirs any character you think will be broken than it should be him. (Some of the lil random things I have seen him do look beastly. . . spindashing downward well changing direction in mid air at the turn of a dime)

I would wait for E 4 all seeing as real smash fans from this site will be there and brawl will be playable for 4 whole days in the first 4 day long brawl torney ever. Thats going to give us some interesting vids that don't leave you wondering WTH MK's final smash is because some ding bat let the ball get stumped out of him or etc.

It's like they say in that piece of text, they only describe his Special Attacks and how good they are, but maybe his Normal Attacks are much weaker...and we ALL know that n00bs ALWAYS play with Special Attacks, 'cause of how cool they look :dizzy:...hell those n00bs will fly with Kirby above your head with all 5 jumps, the try to drop down on you with his Stone attack :lick:....
They should've sent more advanced players, no need to be tournament-grade, but at least a few people who know what they're doing while playing Smash...

Ohhh... So anyone who doesn't know how or isn't good at using advanced techniques is a n00b?

Wavedashing isn't the world... It would actually give us that don't use it a CHANCE. Actually, even if it was in the game, I wouldn't care because I wouldn't be fighting anyone who uses it. Still, IGN sucks because they don't know how to wavedash. No. That means that I suck.

Well...yeah. There's that, and using it at the right time.

Just because you can't wavedash doesn't mean you suck. As a matter of fact, people can wavedash and still suck at this game. It's just that IGN was just spamming moves without much of any strategy and advanced techniques to help them out with their playing style.

I think metaknight is the more fluid fighter... but if you see, his knockback SUCKS hardly. He does tons of damage, but he suffers when it comes to KO opponents.

He reminds me of Mario. They both rely on combos (Metaknight does a better job) but when it comes to KOing, they both suffer because their KO moves aren't so good.

The only reason they think Meta Knight's so great is because they haven't seen Cooking Mama yet. She can't be knocked off the stage and her B move 4 stocks everyone on the screen.

Dude we're not expecting these guys to be tournament pros here but the least they could do is shield and maybe have some idea of what they are doing (they don't)

Using it would give the people who don't use it a chance. It's been my experience that people who can't wavedash can't come close to beating me even if I don't wavedash.

Well I can sorta agree, the day sonic was revealed, the trailed where metaknight fights, he did a multi slash attack to pit, dealing an obscene damage, it was about 40%...

So I can see where the IGN guy is coming from.

They are probebly just trying to game out from a casual point of view.

First they try to have some fun, try the moves, and just try to kick eachothers ***** with flashy moves. Thats what they are payed for. The super tech stuff doesnt relly appeal to much to the biggest part of the market, so it is even better to leave it out in the early stages.

And for the blocking part.. I had a nieghbour who didnt like it that i blocked almost all his attacks, then rolled to his back and grabbed him.. and i did it a few times in a row :p Sure it wasnt a "fun" way to play, but he did deserve it.

My point is that he never played the game alot, and new people need to see flashy things, and dont wanna be bothered with the "slightly" more advanced stuff. Again, most people, not the competitive side

Most likely Meta Knight is just an easy character to play for noobies. Like all new Smash players picking a certain character and sticking with a certain B move? Yeah. Probably the same story there.

Your first being....?
He's my only secondary that I've considered. My mains that I want to use are Mario (I'm a Mario fan), Pit (looks like a good character), Ike (looks like a beast), and Sonic. Metaknight isn't that big a deal. He has little power, is very light, and his range isn't much.
