What type would you specialize in? What traps would you have? I would specialize in Poison, and I would have a 30 floor tower with some special tiles on each floor. If you stepped on them, one of your pokemon would get a random status effect-even getting KOed. Just for the heck of it, I would also put wild Poison types in my gym. What would you do?

i'll specialize in ghost-type and fire type pokemon. a mixed gym leader O_o. i would have a burned down factory where you can only fight me at night. like, i'll have some workers in the factory trying to fix it but they'll battle you, no regrets. buuut before all that, you'll have to battle two officers before you get in. a double battle. :) i'll be in the basement., waiting. i'll have

Hauntar-lvl 36
Hauntar-lvl39
Infernape- lv 40 (i'll use second to last)
Charmileon (i think i spelled it right) - lvl 32
Dusknoir lvl- 42 (i'll use last)

(you just made me want to play my platinum more)

So many. If I were a water type Id make it that you have to cross in a mach bike across the water. If you fall in you go back to the begining. If I were fire type Id put widly powerful fire pokemon roaming in the gym and Id also put up a bike bridge. You can walk across the fire but every time ;you do your pokemon gets burnt. If I were dragon type... well I dunno I cant come up with an obstacle... electric would be gates that would shock and paralyze one of your pokemon if you touch it

anyways: WATER
Buizel lvl 45
Slowbro lvl 50
Empoleon lvl 48
Kyogre lvl 55

ELECTRIC:
Pikachu lvl 65
Plusle lvl 70
Minun lvl 60
Raichu lvl 49
Pichu lvl 52(basically the whole pika clan)

FIRE
Charizard lvl 80
Magmar lvl 69
Infernape lvl 76(I dont gots much fire types)

DRAGON:

Dragonite lvl 78
Salamence lvl 83
Dragonair lvl 45
Charizard lvl 80(if he counts as a dragon type)... again I dont got much dragons...

D*** it, I didn't think about adding my ideal team.

I'll post it later, or if the thread hasn't moved along that much, I'll just edit it into this post.

Honestly, for a thread made by a n00b on his first day on the site, It's going pretty fast.
It is impressive, but how long will it last? Some threads start strong, but seem to die a couple days later.

I would use ground types and my team would be:

Hippowdon lv 46
Claydol lv 47
Swampert lv 47
Flygon lv 48
Nidoking lv 50

I would have a Water/Electric-type gym, mono-type gyms are too easy to plan around!
Here are the Pokemon I would use:

Lanturn LV 50
Gyarados LV 48
Rotom LV 47
Electivire LV 47
Tentacruel LV 48
Kingdra LV 49

And for puzzles, maybe a combination of Sunyshore and Pastoria City Gyms......

I made the coolest team up for a gym leader

Gengar Lvl. 41 @ Sistrus Berry
Modest/ Levitate
~ Shadow Ball
~ Hypnosis
~ Dream Eater
~ Curse

Noctowl Lvl. 35
Calm/ Insomnia
~ Hypnosis
~ Air Slash
~ Psychic
~ Dream Eater

Marowack lvl. 35
Jolly/ Rock Head
~ Earthquake
~ Swords Dance
~ Fire Punch
~ Giga Impact

Mismagius lvl. 41

I call it ghost/ dark even though not all of them fit in that catergory. But Hey, Volkner is allowed to use pokemon that aren't his specialty...just as long as they have the moves in it.

Edit: Rematch Data

Gengar
Honchkrow
Noctowl
Mismagius
Marowack
Granbull

Traps: 22/09/09 UPDATE: The first tile in the gym has Toxic Spikes so all your Pokémon get poisoned. (affects flying types) There is also a burn tile for the Steel types out there. You also cannot use healing or status removing items, until you get to the room with the gym leader. Every room (there are about five, plus one for the leader) is shaped like a maze of sorts, and there's a time limit - if you're too slow, you have to redo that room. Trainers are randomized each time you redo a door, so you get worn down from burn and poison (both in and out of battle) if you're too slow.

i would have a steel gym! The seventh gym right before/after the games main legendary encounter. abnormally larger than any gym seen before, there would be a mini community of 9 buildings. Each building is 2 stories high (except the middle one), and is either a trainer filled house, or a puzzle room with polished-steel tiles (like the ice). each one holds a trainer-held key that gains acess to another building. i would be waiting at the top of the skyscraper in the middle of the gym with the following pokemon (in order):

lv. 44 registeel
earthquake
superpower
gyro ball
curse

lv. 48 lucario
aura sphere
metal claw
water pulse
cross chop

lv. 46 skarmory
arial ace
steel wing
double team
agility

lv. 47 empoleon
flash cannon
surf
drill peck
aqua jet

lv. 50 metagross
bullet punch
psychic
earthquake
giga impact (lol)

also, fronter battle theme would be just perfect for my team/gym setup :D

I'd be the water gym leader. To reach me in the back of the gym, you have to use surf to get across some water. But, you can't use surf outside of battle without my badge. mwahahaha

Whiscash lvl 40
Milotic lvl 40
Gyarados lvl 42
Swampert lvl 46

I would have a Fire-type gym because I don't love any other type than Fire. ^_^

My gym would involve unpassable flame pillars and cannon-esque valves, which release and retract flames when pressed. Strategically using these cannons, you would use them to navigate through the gym, running into trainers on the way.

Blaziken -Lv.49-
Magmortar -Lv.49-
Typhlosion -Lv.50-
Houndoom -Lv.51-
Heatran -Lv.50-
Charizard -Lv.52-

Hmm, never thought about this actually. Mostly cause I've always looked forward to beating all of them instead of thinking about how things would be done if I was one. I'd have Psychic types, since they're my favorite ones in all 4 gens. Of course, since Ghosts can use Psychic too...

There's no traps anywhere in the gym, it's just set up so that you have to fight every one of the trainers before fighting me. You're able to see the room I'm in as soon as you enter the gym, but you can't get in without opening the locks on the door, and you must beat a trainer to get a key to the door. You have to beat them all to get access, and since all of them will be strong enough to give me more than a run for my money, it won't be easy. Plus, you can't leave the building for anything other than emergencies once you're in so you better bring enough potions and heals.

I'm either the 7th gym or the final, 8th one, it doesn't matter to me as long as you fight me that late on.

1. Metagross Lv. 40
2. Gardevoir Lv. 42
3. Gengar Lv. 44
4. Dusknoir Lv. 46
5. Gallade Lv. 48
6. Alakazam Lv. 50

You guys are over levelling your pokemon. Gym leaders don't have level 50 pokemon.

Also, they don't have 6 pokemon

*Looks at Blue/Green, Yellow version's Sabrina*

Of course I'd bend the rules though. I've got another idea that's something you would find in the games but I'll put that here later.

Edit: I'd be the 4th Gym Leader you fight on your journey, specializing in Fighters. The gym is straightforward, the only rule being that you have to beat the 4 other trainers before challenging me without having any pokemon faint. If one does while making your way through, you have to start over.

2. Gallade Lv. 22

That first statement isn't entirely true: Volkner's Electivire in platinum is level 50. Most who have posted a team here are under the assumption that they would be the 7th or 8th leader, but I agree that some teams are too high in level.

As for the second part, everyone is too used to a full team of six pokemon, but at least some, myself included, stopped at 5.

I'd specialize in gimmick Pokemon:

Lvl 36 Castform
-Rain Dance
-Sunny Day
-Hail
-Weather Ball

Lvl 43 Unown ?
-Hidden Power Grass

Lvl 42 Luvdisc
-Aqua Ring
-Charm
-Blizzard
-Water Pulse

Lvl 34 Shuckle @ Brightpowder
-Double Team
-Flash
-Rest
-Sandstorm

Lvl 37 Spinda
-Teeter Dance
-Dizzy Punch
-Dynamic Punch
-Swagger

Lvl 45 Ditto
-Transform

My gym would be FILLED with trainers who only use Weedle, Magikarp, Kriketot, Sunkern, Zubat, and other Pokemon that give very little EXP, but with emphasis on afflicting status effects. There would only be one way to get to me and if the challenger battles the trainers in the wrong order, they have to leave and enter again. Doing this resets the trainers.

Defeating gym would award the trainer the Ribbon Badge and the TM Frustration.

Why are people putting levels, you might as well just make them all LV 100!! C'MON!!

Well, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't enjoy fighting the first Gym Leader if they had 6 Level 100 Pokemon.
Well, that's why I didin't put any levels on mine, I don't know why people are putting levels when it really doesn't matter unless you get really specific with this, like if you were the 8th or the 4th leader, or whatever. The guy just asked what type and Pokemon and traps or tricks you would use, not the level....

Have you seen people say they want to be the first leader, because the Pokemon would all be low-leveled.....

Just sayin'.....

Remember that the gym leaders are ALWAYS lower levels than the E4, who never have anything over level 80 so that the player is "challenged" but still has a decent chance at victory.

EDIT: First run through the E4 usually has minimum levels in the low 50s and the champion's pokemon are only about 10 levels higher than that.

Ok, let's say that the E4 is around the lower 50s to lower 60s the first go around, my gym would be the 8th, so LVs would be around 47 to 50.

EDIT: My post listing my Pokemon now has levels.
