I have no problem with the people who like to hop into the current and ride the main stream, blending in with anything and anything that comes their way. I have no problem with the sheep who paint their wool black in a desperate effort to stand out in the flock. I have an issue with the people who ride the current and paint their fur because that's what people want them to do.

I'm sure this is one of a thousand variations on the same topic... But I'll start the discussion with an example:

Justin Beiber. Everyone loves Justin, but it's really ridiculously popular to hate him. Beiber is my hero. He has a great voice, every girl in America at his feet, he has the fame, and he has the wealth. Why WOULDN'T you be a fan of that? And yet, millions proclaim their undying spite for the teen sensation.

He sounds like a girl when he sings.
i keep hearing this argument but I really don't find anything bad about it

I don't really like justin bieber either but i don't really go around yelling "justin bieber is a ***", I just ignore his music.

I hate the fans/how big of a tool he is. Oh and I hate rich people. Because I'm an envious ****.

Enough honesty for you kids yet or do I need to keep going.

I feel like most of his haters are just people who do it because everyone else does. Or because they're jealous. I don't really have anything against me. In my opinion, his music isn't as bad as **** like Gucci Mane or Lil Wayne rhyming about ****ing *****es and smoking weed.

Justin Bieber is cute so I never bothered seeing what all the fuss was about.

It's always best to keep things on a good note, right?

I didn't know who this kid was until I heard it on the radio. Granted, I liked the song and lyrics. Then, one day I decided to look up the song on youtube to find it was made by an individual named Justin Bieber. Then, I look at the comments and find a lot of haters. It was really confusing. As far as I can tell the haters are probably kids about the same age as him, male and some have just been propagandazised into hating him. There must be some psychological reason why most guys feel threatened by a guy/kid who swoons all the girls and shows sentimentaliy in his songs.

Edit: As far as the OP goes, yeah if you want to stand out it better be for your reasons and not because someone tells you to. All the more reason to be yourself.

I don't understand how people like this when there's true talent out there. Like Gucci Mane la Flare.

I don't really care about 'Justine Beaver' as my mate calls him. Although I'm leaning more to dislike. It's just the 12 year girls going nuts that kind of drain it.

He has the same haircut as my lesbian history teacher.
Apparently his voice has already broke lol, but then again Michael Jackson could sing pretty high and he's the King of Pop.

After 6 months everyone would have forgotten about Beiber and he'll be laughing with his million$$$.

Music is subjective, everyone should just keep that in mind.

Granted, I dislike Justin Bieber, but that's because I don't like his music and I just find something stupid about him and some girl being the only 12-year-olds at a party with high school kids in that music video of his.

Suum cuique, everyone's got their own opinion on music. Just don't maul someone for liking some music or tell them their music sucks.

I'd like to address something in the OP that's still making my brain itch.

He has a great voice, every girl in America at his feet, he has the fame, and he has the wealth. Why WOULDN'T you be a fan of that? And yet, millions proclaim their undying spite for the teen sensation.
First off, we don't like his music BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE HIS VOICE. Last time I checked, the only girls at his feet were girls only an idiot would want because they are pretty much one step above the hannah montanna crowd.

He has fame and wealth, so I should like him? Soooo I shouldn't be annoyed when people I dislike profit, I should embrace them...riiiiight.

My favorite bit is at the end. Why wouldn't I be a fan, hmmmm, maybe it's the same reason I'm not a fan of the stupid 'cool' kids at school who get the hot but very stupid girls because they do all the right things to 'fit in' or whatever? Nahhhhh, I'm just conforming to everyone's idea of what 'non conformist' is, riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Yeah, Falcon said what I forgot to say (well, actually, started to say and got too lazy to finish it and thus stopped saying it, but whatever). Rich + has girls + fame = I should like him? You can call people who don't like Justin Bieber conformists all you want, but at least we don't like people simply because they're "cool", rich, and popular...

Another thing...your opening paragraph confuses me. You don't have problems with people who fit in/don't fit in because they want to, you have problems with those who do that because OTHER people want them to. Then you talk about how Justin Bieber is hated as if it's a classic example.

Um...if someone's purposefully fitting in/standing out, how do you know WHY they're doing it? "Hey that guy hates Justin Bieber, he DEFINITELY is doing it because of peer pressure to dislike him!"

I really don't get this blog at all, to be honest.
