Curse you Olimar and you're sick grab range that can even grab a spot dodger!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate using a some heavy character on him. Every **** time at 0% I get grabbed dthrow, upsmash, upair or fair depending on which way I DI and then I have close to 50% on me. Some times I can mange to escape the uair of fair but not always and it hurts real bad :( What's the deal with Olimar's grab and how can I avoid it?

honestly, olimars grab is so obscene that the only way to avoid it is jumping over which results in upsmash or upair, or roll away hoping he won't try it again, its just so obscene to a point where trying to avoid it is illogical really, becuase its that good against heavies

Ummm for heavy character might be hard to dodge it.

But characters like lucario (floaties) they can get away with it.

I main falco, and I can get away from the uair or fair depending on which they use but if they read the DI I still get hit. idk that grab is sick you can spot dodge a tether grab but not a pikmin!!!! One thing that I have found that works some time is to come in and air dodge and then spot dodge as soon as a hit the ground, this only works if olimar is shielding because if he isn't he will hit me in the face with some other move.

you've got it^ That's all you really can do. Just DI and predict what your opponent is about to do. There is no magic solution. (nair>jabs works sometimes)

falco has an arguably better cg against heavies then does olimar

In general your correct though, olimars grab is broken

ok, I have a problem with this. Sense when is Olimar's grab broken? That's bull.

-DDD has a very easy standing infinite on 5 characters and an edge-finite chaingrab on most of the cast!
-Falco has a much better chaingrab than Olimar does. He's got an unavoidable dthrow>spike!
-IC has an infinite on every character. I'd much rather have their grab. (Don't give me that crap about it being hard to get a grab in the first place.)
-Pikachu has a much more legitimate chaingrab on most of the cast via dthrow and fthrow. Dthrow has MUCH more combo potential than any of Olimar's grabs do.
-Yoshi has an infinite on Wario and an unavoidable chaingrab>spike on 1/5 of the cast- including MK and Snake.

I'm not saying that Olimar doesn't have the best grab game, but broken? No, sorry. DDD's standing infinite is the only broken grab in this dumb game.

it's fairly widely accepted that "broken" just refers to any powerful move when used in casual conversation

in reality, you can't have a bunch of broken things in a game; the one or two most "broken" things would render the others not broken, simply because they are defeated by the most game-breaking technique/character/whatever

It's avoidable.
When is falco's Dthrow to dair avoidable???? Maybe when Olimar is above 50% and he flys to far away from the down throw.

I'm pretty sure the brokenness of Olimars grab that people are referring to are the range, how long it lost and how near impossible it is to spot dodge. I think that is what people are talking about, not what Olimar can do out of a grab.
