Wazzup? LashD094 here. I just want to say one thing that no teenager has done before. I said "goodbye" to Facebook. Yeah, i know. Basically on my Fbook page i put that i am addicted to another site (SWF) and that i would only check my Facebook page once a month or so. I mainly am just getting tired of checking it constantly. It's nowhere near as good as SWF. And while i'm @ it, Facebook has really gone downhill. I mean it's just not fun anymore. It's only use now is to talk to faraway friends. Plus none of my friends on Facebook like smash bros. hehe. But i digress....
Just wanted to let everyone know i think this site is better than Facebook. <(^_^)b

Hey guys, this blog has now been realized as a partial failure. I am redoing it as of now. It had it's good points but i really wasn't clear at all on my point. plus the amazingly ******** quote by yours truly,

Lets start over. As u know already, i said goodbye to Facebook. The reason is that Facebook has gone downhill. Now Facebook has been great with keeping friends in touch and i like that. However, my biggest problem is simple. They have taken the fun out of Facebook. What i mean is nearly all the things that u could decorate your profile with, such as personality quizzes, funny pics, and much more to show what u r like, have been taken away. While it may not matter to other ppl, it really peeved me. However, the worst for me is the freakin web games on Facebook. You know what i'm talking about, Facebook users. FarmVille, Mobster wars, those ones. Everyday on Facebook i get literally 17 messages saying, "u have leveled up in (generic game)" or, "u have received (generic item) from (friend)!" u have no idea how aggravating it can really be. I have tried telling all my friends to stop at least 4 times. They never stop. I really just don't enjoy going on Facebook anymore. Plus i'm tired of hearing about all the relationships my friends have. So i said goodbye. There ya have it. Feel free to argue.

I've only recently started getting into it, and I've already built up some strong new friendships. And what's more, I think it has increased my ability to talk to girls significantly.

I had to open a Facebook account because all of my friends and family were on it. Now I'm thinking of saying goodbye to Facebook as well. What's stopping me is the friends and family who have forgotten how to use email and only stick to using Facebook to contact me. Yeah, I never got the point of those social networking sites other than for drama. I have a Myspace page, and only as a place to look at humorous motivational posters.

Otherwise, they're a waste of time and energy that could be used to read matchups.

But in all seriousness (because I have that), they're stupid wastes of time and effort to talk to people you see everyday (or talk to by phone), and I will never understand their significance in society.

Ahem... you owe me an apology. It's not right to insult me just for not agreeing with you.

I was once of that opinion as well, but my good friends got me into it a few months ago. I can finally talk to them almost as often as I want without having to call them (oh how I hate talking on the phone).

Nah... I just don't like talking as much as typing. It's a matter of confidence. I tend to be a bit awkward with spoken words, but in typing, I can freely think through everything I say, and present myself in the way I feel fit. It's as simple as that.

Wow <(O_O)> Kirby didn't expect this much feedback so early. Looking @ the OP, i see i may have been a bit too hard on Facebook. But c'mon, u guys have to agree Facebook HAS gone downhill. I used to have all kinds of things on my Profile for everyone in my rap-loving school *ugh, rap* to know i am a videogame freak, rock lover, hate rap, all kinds of funny things that shows my personality. Now that's all hidden and i just now found all that stuff taken off the profile. That's my main complaint. And Facebook really does not help me with talking to girls better. If u really wanna chat up the ladies, do it for real. Sure it's ok to Facebook 'em after u meet them. Regardless, thanks for the feedback guys!

I'm all for internet as communication, typing > talking, but I just hate Facebook.

It's a mix of teenage stupidity and drama that steers me away. Sure it has its uses, I know it does. It's a great tool for finding people, but at my age, it's pretty **** useless...save my one close friend that moved, but we have each others contact info anyway. If someone really wants to talk to me, they can ask for my MSN, yahoo, google, AIM, phone number, or whatever.

Communication mediums are one of the few medias in which popularity does = quality. Facebook is universally popular, thus allowing you to more easily reach a larger number of your friends and acquaintances. MSN isn't quite as popular (though is certainly still popular in it's own right.

And you can't watch **** while talking to people on Facebook? I can.

Ah. I will admit to being a bit on the lazy side, but that didn't influence my hesitance to make an account. I'm just slightly on the antisocial, nonconformist side. The thought of spending my internet time socializing with my peers made me cringe. Were it not for my closest friends suggesting that I make a FB account, I just would have kept that train of thought.

pretty much the only reason i got a facebook account was to stay in contact with my friends once i started high school. the other reason is that its useful if you want to talk to people, but either A, dont like talking on the phone or B dont want to pay for a huge texting bill/cant afford it cause using facebook is free after all. free is nice.
i would say its good when staying in contact with friends. its bad if youre updating a status like every 2 hours and write blogs on it and check it like constantly.
the dumb thing is that adults are getting these now and thats one of the main reasons why facebook is becoming less appealing. you cant complain/tell your day anymore cause your mom might check her account and then see that post you made and the next thing you know, your grounded. (just an example, luckily my mom doesnt have a facebook.) original the site was only for college and high school kids. now its like for everyone. i see freaking 8 year olds with facebook accounts, thats pathetic.

Although I agree comepltly with Rogu. The parents/grandparents/8 year olds that are constantly appearing on Facebook piss me off, especially the ones who use whatever you have up against you. Luckily, the only family I have is my immediate, and only my little sister to worry about (whom I've already denied.) But to anyone with an extensive family who doesn't know much about the life of the average teenager nowadays, I have sympathy for you.

that was literally it's original purpose, technically to connect college graduates... then it expanded to connect people in general, then it further expanded to offer applets for those people to play around on, now it's a purely obscene display of wasted time for millions of users, sadly, my wife included. often I will see her at it, petting her virtual kittens, feeding her virtual fish, tending her virtual crops, eliminating virtual gangsters. where does it end!?!?!?! haha nah, but yeah it's sick and twisted and she literally gets agitated if she's away from fb for more than 24 hours as if by her not logging in those virtual pets and farms and gangsters won't be there anymore for her to interact with.

that's why there's linkedin! their vetting process is tight, and it keeps it from being a place of rampant foolishness. just strictly a place to post your resume and contact info, or if you're a business, a place for scouting.

mybook, facespace, twister, jewtoob, they all share the same problem. they harness the power of the internet and wield it like an atom bomb. they encourage e-laziness, e-"fun". none of these kids know what it's like to be a true lifer, to sit on a bulletin board at 1200 baud/sec all night long, then go to school, THATs where ya got your sleep, and maybe some food, then come home, and start it all again. it led to serious problems in very few people. now it leads to slightly less problems in tons of people. it leads to an ingrained sense of necessity. even news personalities have to twitter. at first they tried to show off "look at us, we are getting news from iran cause of twitter" but all it really showed was that we indeed could read what has happening, and still do nothing about it. it leads to inaction. it leads to a mindset that you can "delete" people you don't like, "ignore" viewpoints, its a way for people to brag about their success to all those people that made fun of you in high school... its a way to air your dirty laundry for the masses to consume, "feel bad" and then move on to their own. unplugging from these sites isn't just a good idea, it's closing in on imperative to save your soul.

Facebook is good, but only if you are intelligent enough to use it. Avoid pointless time dumps like Farmville and only use it as a communication medium. Don't check it constantly... anything that is said will still be there for you to see the next day, afterall. If you must always have it up, keep it up in another tab while you surf the web.
