I am pretty sure you are fast falling the dair that leads to you moving, often too far, down off the stageWhen I try spiking over an edge and miss, I often fall to my death. How do I stop Marth from continuously falling down? Do I have to spike right after i use my second jump?
P.S. Don't set the c-stick to tilts >< Usually the 2nd jump helps space the dair, and even if it doesn't, having it set on smash is much better. It's more beneficial to learn to just tilt into dair anyways =]Marth's spikes are MUCH harder to do in brawl now. Here's how I've been practicing them(and still am)
First, go to practice mode. Set 1/4 speed and set 3 computers up on jump. REALLY find out for yourself and get a feel for where the sweetspot is on the hitbox. Practice it by simply jumping straight up and meteor smashing them back onto the stage until you fully understand it. Then move speed up to 1/2, and practice the same way. After that go to 2/3, then 1x speed doing it. Once you feel comfortable with all of those proceed to the next step
Second, practice back from 1/4 speed again to approaching and meteor smashing with 3 computers on jump again. You should know what the hitboxes are like, now get a feel for how to hit with them while moving. Do this on all the speeds(except for 1.5x) . Once you're comfortable with this, proceed to step 3
Third, this is the hardest one to do because it's a pain to set up. Set a computer to stop on final d with about 40% and 1/4 speed. Fsmash him(tipper will kill him though) off the edge(from the edge), and run to him and meteor smash him. Once you can do this properly, do this on 1/2, 2/3 and 1x speed again. After you do that, try it with different %'s. If you can do this 99% of the time, you'll have a REALLY good feel for it.
