I got heavy into melee in the past year, and my brain tells me it is the best out of the smash games in terms of vs mode. However after about a year of playing it I really just do not find as much joy in that as I do SSB64, which my brain tells me is not as good of a game, but my heart likes it a lot more. I always try to follow the logical thing to do, but after learning to record SSB64 video's, Playing online (Even if I am losing I still find it very fun and a great learning experience, I do have one keyboard john, but other than that I lost fair and square.) and just hanging around the community I find it a lot more fun then melee. My brain however tells me melee is a lot more strategic, requires a lot more skill (Both tech. and other wise), and over all is a more in depth game. All of toughs are things I look for in my games, but I can not help but smile more while I play SSB64 even though melee has more of what I am looking for. I do not know which game to play I am so confused. I must dedicate my self to one game to get good so I have to chose one, and I can not chose brawl because I dislike the slowness of the game play (Not that brawl is a bad game, I just do not like it as much, except stage creator, I could spend hours doing nothing except stage creator, however that is off topic.)

PLAY BRAAAAAAAAAAWL!

Na lol, but don't do what others say. Do what you want to do, what you find the most fun.

If you like one game better than the other, I think your choice is obvious.
This.

Screw technical skill and all that junk, you're playing a game; by definition, you're supposed to be enjoying it. If you enjoy SSB64 more than Melee, why would you play Melee?

Do what you enjoy doing.

logically you shouldn't be playing games but outside playing with friends.

also perfect logic is flawed even if you had it. because as they try to think they have to make sure their logic is right, makes sense that they should better to be logical right? But how can they prove that it's perfect logic? and they have to reprove everything esle in different angle to be 100%. they sit there trying to order a snadwich when logically they should get what they want, but also at the same time eat something healthier that may cost a bit more.

health over happiness or ? sometimes logic doesn't work because there's no 100% right.

I have found perfectly logical reasons to dig into my flesh till I bleed like crazy. For someone's amusable but that person=large part of meaning so I should honnor meaning to increase my own value.

higher amount of meaning completle=more value.

logic is crazy anything can make senses if you look

it all depends on what you think strategy is.

Personally, I think there is more reaction based movements in melee, and that it takes a lot more skill to be great at the game. But I lso thing the 64 version is difficult because it is slow, so your strategy has to completely outclass a person to gain any significant lead.

in the end its about what makes your victories worth the time it took, and what challenges your willing to face. Its a tough choice I had to make as well. Either way, just have fun playing.

Question, who exactly can you play SSB64 with at a high level at this point in time, seriously. I'm not even trolling, I'm legitimately asking how are you defining how much you enjoy one game over the other.

I mean, I'm still staring at the screen with a perplexed look, but I don't think you get to count that as trolling. Also, Ricky Jhon needs to do less crack.

To question one: There are plenty of good people online (At least in my point of view).

To question two: It is hard to put a mathematical value as to how much I enjoy both games but I will give it a shot, If the highest enjoyment value is 5 then my enjoyment of SSB64 is 4.85 while my enjoyment of melee is 3.95 ish to 4.15 ish So rounding to the nearest whole number I like SSB64 about 20% (The actually percent I feel is less than that by 5~10%, but it is hard to assign exact values to emotions) more than melee.

Thanks for toughs who have helped me out.

@ICG Makes perfect scene, never really thought about it that way.

Don't ever say that to ICG. Ever.

Anyways, I really think you're over thinking too much, just pick one, or play both, or get a girlfriend, it's your life dude, and I get the feeling you're not even that old, which means whatever decision you atm means even less.

Juuuust sayin~

I hear Isai still plays SSB64 on the online servers. I played against him once in a FFA. He beasted everyone with Donkey Kong, but I spiked him once because I'm a D!ck who picks Kirby.

Play whichever one is the most fun. It doesn't make sense for you to try to convince yourself that one is more fun than the other when you know that that's not true. Do it for Isai.

Do you ever plan on going to Melee tournaments? If not, then go ahead and play the original classic. If you do plan on going to a Melee tournament, stick with Melee. In fact, just play both games. Why drop one for the other when you can play either one at your hearts content? Play what you like the most.
