For me it'll probably be something like this.

Circle Pad: Movement
D-Pad: Taunts
Circle Pad Pro: Smash Attacks

A: Special Attacks
B: Normal Attacks
X: Grab
Y: Grab

L: Jump
R: Shield

I'll probably use Kid Icarus Uprising Controls

:awesome:

For seriousness, probably the standard whatever it ends up being.

A- Attack/Special
B- Special/Attack
X- Attack/Special
Y- Special/Attack
L- Shield
R- Grab
Circle Pad- Move/Jump
D-Pad- Taunt

This is what I feel most people should use. It makes use of the X and Y buttons by making them also Attack and Special, just incase your finger slips and you press the wrong button. Or if you just have big thumbs, because I'll be using the regular 3DS, not the 3DS XL. I was suprised I saw no one used this yet! You could switch the attack and specials all you like.

Y - Attack
X - Special
B - Jump
A - Jump
Circle Pad - Movement
D-Pad - Taunts
L - Grab
R - Shield

Clean and simple.

Turn off tap jump, set A, B, X, or Y to jump, rest is default.

I'll probably go Default for my 3DS XL or X is Grab and Shield is Y.
On my 3DS, L and R buttons are broken so I'll replace X with grab and Shield with Y as well.

I'll probably try to set mine up as comfortable as possible. I have Circle Pad Pro XL so will trying with and without it but I think over all I'll probably end up using it. Just gonna probably have to adjust somethings.

I hope to all that is holy that there's a CPP option. I want my C-stick.

Past that, switch attack to 'B' and special to 'Y'. That's how I got through Brawl on a Classic Controller Pro when I switched to Wii U.

A = Attack
B = Jump
X = Grab
Y = Special
L/R = Shield
D-Pad = Smash attacks.
Tap jumping off because I hate that ****. Seriously I went back to Melee and had so much trouble, which was confounding at first because I never did before, but then I realized that the only reason I never had trouble was because I never used up-tilts. Now I'm practicing for the 3ds tournament at comic con which is bound to be default controls only and UGH tap jumping is just such a nightmare for me. T_T

Also, I think it's a little tragic to not be able to taunt, but I think it'd be a worthy sacrifice. Unfortunately, Circle Pad Pro is a bit too cumbersome for my tastes.

i'd try to get it as gamecube-controller-y as possible, so i can play both the wii u and ds version comfortably

The only thing I would change is the position of specials and hopefully making the D-Pad smash attacks.

I would go with the E3 controls. I've already changed my controls on Brawl to match, so I can already be accustomed to the controls when SSB3DS comes out.

D-pad for movement.
B for standard attacks
Y for special attacks
X and A for jumping
L trigger for grabs
R trigger for shields

This is my control scheme for Super Smash Flash 2 as well.

A: Jump (*DRAMATIC NOISES* AMG HOW COULD YOU SMASHRIVER YUDODIS SRS WHO USES A TO JUMP)
B: Normal Attacks
X: Jump
Y: Specials

L: Shield
R: Grab

And that's how I'm gonna do it.

If anything I would probably change X &A to my jump buttons. Y to my special attack and B to attack. I havnt played either version yet so I might sick with default but my mapping would make better sense

For me it'll probably be something like this.

Circle Pad: Movement
D-Pad: Taunts
Circle Pad Pro: Smash Attacks

A: Special Attacks
B: Normal Attacks
X: Grab
Y: Grab

L: Jump
R: Shield
Changed my mind, this is going to be my control set minus the Circle Pad Pro.

I'm pretty pleased the controls, so I won't be changing most likely. But if there is an option to turn off tap/control stick jumping and changing smash attacks to using d-pad+A that'd be great  . But seriously, hopefully the circle pad pro is compatible with the 3DS version of smash 4.

I'll have to mess around with it more when it comes out, but my first two thoughts are either:
L - Jump
B - Attack
Y - Special
X/A - Grab,
or
Y - Jump
B - Attack (maybe Special)
X - Special (maybe Attack)
A/L - Grab?

Shield on R, Taunts on D-Pad, tap jump OFF, because up-tilts. Leaning towards the second, since it's really similar to how I hold the GC controller. Y/B and Y/X for jumping nairs and midair fireballs seems particularly perfect.

Circle Pad: Move
D-Pad: Taunt
L/R: Shield
A: Attack
B: Special
X: Grab
Y: Jump
Circle Pad Pro: Smash Attacks

This is what I have on my xBox controller when I play SSF2 so it might work.

The only thing that messed me up when I played at Smash Fest was that they made L grab and R shield, reverse of the Gamecube controller layout. So all I'm going to do is switch those two back around c:
