I tend to below the average age of most Melee tournaments I got to (I'm about 2 weeks under the age of 21).

Also, a lot of old games have sturdy fan bases. Loads of people still play games like Super Tecmo Bowl and Street Fighter II *insert edition here* at tournaments.

@ Sol
Melee needs to be on the Wii U's Virtual Console (unchanged, aside from say frame rate fixes, obviously making them HD compatible, and maybe fixing up some graphical issues [although I can't think of any]). That would do so much good, and would really make running tournaments easier. Seriously, I'd rather lug around my skinny 30 inch HD screen that weighs next to nothing than my 24 inch TV that weighs about a third of my weight!

Except that it is almost certain that the Wii U won't have support for GC controllers...

Yeah, and even 64 still enjoys a pretty good reception at tournaments. I expect SSB4 won't cut brawl out of the line either. It's very good. :-)

People will discover a way to change the gamecube controllers port to the port for the wii mote, like the nunchuck's port with it. Smash will never die easily throughout consoles. People know what they're doing.

I voted for Old Snake as the character I most likely wanted to see in Melee, but mainly because I didn't realize what the other numbers are associated with.. might want to arrange the OP a little better.
