How many of you actually use shield breaker and against what characters?

We do know that it has nice horizontal range and great knockback.

EL pointed out the other true awesome things about it quite some time ago. Now the question is....Do you use it?

Post videos if you want. Ill look at some.

I use SB, my opponents almost never expect it, but at many attempts I'm unsuccessful.

The use of shield breaker seperates a smart player from a normal player.

Most Marth's will never use Shield Breaker as an attack to rack up damage or kill. It does only 8% and while it does have reasonable knock back if it hits, its miniscule unless charged up.

As a recovery option it isn't superb, but usable; knowing the situations is important to avoid death/punishment.

Smarth Marth players use it as a psychological tool. They do what they can to force a player into using shield often; or if they do it naturally forcing them to stop. Marth is better at ****** rollers/spot dodgers; shielding can often put a damper on Marth and punish him easily with minor mistakes. In both cases it's win/win if used properly.

Well, yah. slowish+almost no arc+mediocre damage/knockback= terrible direct attack option. It's really a pressuring tool, imo.

yeah, it's nice to pressure the opponent to use a shield then use shield breaker. There is a once in a lifetime chance your opponent will freak out, spotdodge, and you charge up more and attack. It's also got good range. But I see where you're coming from, it's hard to effectively use it frequently. But then again, you arnet supposed to use it that much...

Since the shield breaker is a slow move for Marth I sometimes use it to throw off opponents because they see my Marth move and they'll sidestep but come back up to get stabbed in the face lol. I also use it every now and then when some people are distracted fighting I'll jump in the air and come down near them while charging it to send them flying off.

Over-aggressive edgeguarders take a charged shieldbreaker to the face when you're recovering.
I love this too much to ignore :p i would say SB is a just a mix up tool but its more then that, my brother often plays as Wario and i use it to poke him off the bike and many other uses for this as well.

I hardly use b moves at all unless I'm playing against MK.

Honestly, I'll omly rely on Marrth's b moves if I absulotely have to and there's no other way in the match up. I prefer Marth's aerial game over anything.

Two out of Four of Marth's Special moves are close to broken/godly.

Not using them because you have some inane idea that fighting in the air constantly is the best thing ever for Marth is just naive.

I DO use them, Marth can't survive without them. I just mean that my Marth style puts more emphasis on spaced pokes and being in a position where I can attack safely without them being abale to hit me. His aerials work best for.

However, I would be a fool not to use the dancing blades or up b. They're both free damage almost.

Shield Breaker should SCARELY be used off stage. It forces you to travel in a straight line, with a straight hitbox. This is bad, and makes you EASIER to edgeguard. Marth is floaty enough, that if you don't waste your jump, falling to the stage is more advisable. Learn to DI.

Shield Breaker should be used whenever you think your opponent will shield. It's that simple. Also, knowing when, and how long to charge shield breaker is important.

Fully charged shield breakers actually work occasionally on stage. Because the other player will likely begin by shielding, then realize "Oh sh*t its shield breaker!"Then they will either drop their shield and just take it up the as.s, or spam spot dodge, or possibly just take the hit to the shield. It kinda puts you into a panic, the smartest decision here for the other guy is probably just to roll back or jump, but you'd be surprised by how many people fail to do this...

Once again QFT

I have hit top level players with this. If they rush in to punish, Dolphin Slash is a trap.

I find it kinda useless for recovery. I mean, yeah, in the right situation where I've burned my jump and am in the top corner of the stage, I'll use it, but the ending lag on it is so unbearable that often I don't end up using it. It's just too risky when di and up-b will do the job 80% of the time.

As an attack I like throwing it out there when I notice they've begun to shield a little too much. Ironically, sb is one of those moves that the less you use them, the more it does its job (because of unpredictability, etc.), as opposed to db, where it really doesn't matter.

I have stopped using it for recovery, it isn't great. As BengalsRZ said, they will shield and then won't know what to do, I've done that, I'll get caught like a deer in headlights, and then I get pissed at myself.
