How is the melee competitive scene doing in Japan?

Does anyone know the current status of the competitive melee scene in Japan? Do any of the old players like BombSoldier and Aniki still play?

I heard this from another thread; Bombsoldier is playing more Brawl now, but still prefers Melee over it and is trying to get the competitive scene going more.

Aniki retired from Melee and mains Wario in Brawl now.

The online Japanese smash community is pretty brawl centered now. There is some melée played at the brawl tourneys, though.

Well, its not as good as it used to be if that's the main scene (my eyes bled watching that peach edgeguard).

Last thing I heard...

Fumi still plays Melee every chance he gets... Since the places where Melee was played is now dominated by Brawl and people gather less frequently to play Melee.

That won't happen unless the companies involved thought they could make money off of it... so no, the chances of that happening or less than the chance that Window's Hearts would be a featured game.
