Now, this isn't a thread asking how to perform the technique of shorthopping, I'm pretty sure everyone has that down, what I'm asking is, what do you do to shorthop. I'm posting this in the CF thread because i wanna know how you guys SH with him, not other characters, because it differs.

For me, I always jump with the x button, so when i SH, I use my thumb on the first knuckle line and slide it off the x really fast. This works, but I wanna try and get a better way of SHing because when i do this in games and im trying to combo, it doesn't come out sometimes.

I used to thumb-slide the top-right corner of the Y button.

But i switch to tapping Y lightly. It'll force you to have more control over your controller in general. Tapping lightly is the suggested method.

My friend pushes the jump button. I don't really know how I short hop, but I know it is really useful to know how other people jump.

I'm a piano player, so I press buttons with my fingertips. That means I need to be well-groomed and always have my nails cut. I also short hop with X. For JC grabs I use Y. Sometimes for short hop rising Uairs, I use the Control Stick.

I'm weird.

Dude, all you have to do is change your Controller figuration, then make the jump command Left on the DPad. Then try short hopping. So much more challenging.

I use X to SH with falcon....I just press the button...really not hard at all..though I guess that is from me being a fox/samus player lol.

I'm probly the only person that plays like this but I jump with the right side of my index finger and keep my thumb on the A button so that i can freely move it to the C-Stick or A, or B buttons depending on what I got to do

I'm pretty sure that's the claw grip. Mew2King is known for this grip with his Fox, I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

A lot of people use it. I use it. It makes everything easier/better. You can play relatively frame perfect in aspects like SHDL and JC'ing shines and SHDF and things like that.

I could've sworn I read somewhere on the boards that he does, but oh well.

The claw is exactly as **** Falcon described it, using the side of the index finger on Y, and the thumb ready for either A or the C-stick.

I definitly have one of the weirdest ways to hold the controller.

Not only do I claw, but I double claw. I hold the control stick with my thumb and index finger.

Trail does this with his control stick too. It is quite odd looking, but I can see how it would benifit, well, not really.

Lol! So THATS what its called. I remember a long time ago seeing a guy at a tournament play his Falco like that. I couldn't believe my eyes. I kept calling over my friends to check it out (and he was actually good too.) 0_0

Actually probably one of the weirdest styles of holding the controller was demonstrated by Jv3x3 @ a tourny here in Canada a few years ago. I remember him putting the controller on his lap and tapping away at it like it was a keyboard. Not holding it at all...

I think thats what he did...but now that I think about it, how would he have been able to WD or lcancel?
