first of all i was never good at timing DJCs but i worked in a method that really helps with yoshi. i main yoshi and this reallly helps combos and genral quick djcs. if you want really fast n-airs for example, you double tap down or right c as fast as you can then double tap r as fast as you can. first r for the n-air and second r for the delay cancle. continue that method enough and you can get fairly consistent. works with all dcjs except d-air.
for d-airing i press c once then after a tiny wait press it again and use r to dair a millisecond after. use r to delay cancle as well. i'd like to hear other techniques.

now this is were i need advice - ness!
with ness i can get extremely rapid dairs and uairs since they have no delay by sliding right c, down c, a. (i can shield break ect). i just need some advice on nairs, bairs and fairs. i've tryed sevral different techniques such as sliding and using z to cancle the delay but i can never get any consistency. help anyone?

Practise and learn the timing. That's how you get consistent. Personally I use double-tap down-c > N-air/F-air/B-air, with different timing for each. You HAVE to Z-cancel, if not you won't ever do well at low percents.

Up -> C -> Air attack

Spike: Up -> Hold Down + C -> A

This is how real men do it

Yeh I claways play with my right thumb covering both the down c and A button at once so I always downc twice for any djc. Gob bless fat thumbs.

The best way I've learned to DJC is to tilt your thumb downwards so it presses right C, down C, and A in succession. It has worked well for me and it is pretty easy to l-cancel since only two motions are involved.

Haha, true. I broke a Samus. =[

Still, it's so freaking satisfying for your first time. It was all instinctive too, it was all nairs, I didn't even end with a dsmash or anything, and I never even came close to doing it before.

I'm reasonably sure I've never been able to pull that off before. Congrats!

yea the only shields i have broken with yoshi is hitting a full dair. not quite as satisfiying. ness on the other hand, is soo easy to break shields cause you dont need to delay cancle with uair and it has heaps of shield stun time.

It's all about practicing your djc yoshi nairs to get them as fast as possible. For me the perfect speed is double tapping down c as fast as i can and then nairing.

It's easier to break shields with Yoshi than Ness IMO. But maybe thats because I play Yoshi all the time and not Ness.

I just tap down c twice to DJC cancel. No point or need in doing it any quicker than that with Yoshi.

dont you have to move across while djcing nair to break a shield?

As long as he can hit the shield from where he is with N-Air, there is no horizontal movement needed. That's why on-the-spot DJC N-Air is worth practising.

Edit: Shows how much I know about Yoshi. I've only ever managed a couple DJC shield breaks, I should just let the experts respond.

Ideally yes. The further away your nair hits from the less shield stun they're going to have so it'll be much more possible to roll out/jump out/upsmash out etc. Nairs also push them away a little bit (an extreme amount against slidey *** Luigi) so after the 1st or 2nd one you have to make your nair move horizontally closer to them anyway of you won't even hit their shield.

Also for anyone who doesn't know, reverse upsmash is Yoshi's best shield break finisher. Much better than downsmash. So if you're doing backwards nairs on someones shield just remember to use upsmash as a finisher.

My first legit online break was on a Jiggs 0% :chuckle:

But yea, I don't know why but most of my breaks are on Jiggs.:confused:
I usually play the same way against Jiggs- then as I'm about
to break their sheild, I'm like oh....wait...this is going to kill them.:lick:

i dont wanna make a new thread so i'll just say it here:
i was mucking around with djc uairs and dairs and i found that if u hold z while djcing as soon as you land you open up shield. i found that when u were in shield it is exactly the same as djcing as if you were just standing normally. i was using it on some friends on the consol. their not great but it seem to work when they dash attacked me with falcon ect. i could block in the split second i hit ground. then i tryed some other stuff and mindgames were working really effectivly when i was shield rolling as soon as i hit the ground then continuing the djcs.
is this a know technique? does it have any effect against stronger players?

A combination of basic shielding, jumping out of shield and Z-cancels. I use this sort of thing with Link to punish people who bait you and try to pivot smash.
