At every tournament I've ever done well at, I've avoided eating at McDonald's (and co.) for lunch. I've always opted to find a Subway (or something similar that gives me a lot of vegetables). If I can't find that, I drink a lot of Gatorade and just play hungry.

Really bad fast food makes me play terribly. I avoid it like the plague during the tournament.

i like when ppl say be healthy when most smashers are the farthest thing from it and are probably fronting
Nice generalisation. I guess that justifies assuming that you're overweight and unhealthy just like the rest of us obviously are.

@T.Webb, It's good to stay hydrated. I bring a bottle of water with me whenever I attend a tournament. Eating a good, healthy meal the night before the tournament is also good. KirbyKaze was spot on about vegetables.

I'm going to try and get clif bars or some alternative to having to eat out. I hate spending so much money on fast food. (Then I'd just go to CVS and buy stuff from there)

Well like I said in Lovage's thread, I practice by myself A LOT, so I would guess that doing that can greatly raise your stamina. If you play 5+ hours straight as practice, when you need to do that during tournaments it becomes less threatening because you know you can do it. You probably don't even have to practice that long as long as you keep up your intensity. I would say 2 hours of brutal tech skill practice with Fox is going to be better for building endurance than practicing chain grabs as Marth for 5 hours. Next time there's a tournament coming up, spend the night before practicing for as many hours you can as hard as you can and see how it affects your play the next day.
Tried that before and it was no good i was just tired of playing before i even got to the venue lol

There's good tech skill as it's traditionally defined, i.e., the ability to perform actions very quickly, and then there's the ability to perform quick techniques without exerting yourself too much, mentally and physically.

Whenever I practice I spend the first period playing as fast as I can but I try to close a practice session with about 20 minutes of less flashy, "practical" stuff while making a conscious effort to relax my hands and to play stress free.

On another note, I wonder if part of the reason Mango often goes Falcon in pools is that it doesn't require the same type of exertion as Falco...maybe in a sense he's saving himself for the matches that really matter.

u have to take breaks. your brain loses sugars when u focus too hard//get owrn down so eat a lot of carbohydrates and eat really healthy the day of a tournament so many smashers are just like disgusting eaters the day of tournaments but ur mind and body really are one so u have to take care of both to perform at your best. SLEEP the night before, too.

Bring a book. Something boring like The Scarlet Letter. Start reading, fall asleep, free nap at tournaments. Bam, fully rested for your next set.

I eat a big *** Burrito or Taco, all that hype food has made me been able to do 8+ hour sessions of pure manly meleeness, bathroom breaks excluded because of rotations. Though the longest I've been able to go full throttle with my main is around 9 hours? Started slowing down due to the fact it was 5 AM and hunger and sleep johns were setting in.
I swear to god Taco Bell is bioengineered to fuel me.
