How do I kill high at %?

Something that I've noticed while playing with my friends, is that if I missed the opportunity take their stock before they hit 90~%. Other then the random tipper or edge guarding, I can't seem to find any combos that will work on them. Seeing as they fly just far enough to prevent me from comboing them.

My Friend usually plays Marth ditto if that is important.
If this was asked before, could someone kindly link me there? and a mod is free to lock this topic if he/she so chooses.
Thanks for the help in advance.

One of Marth's downsides(IMO) is his difficulty killing after the opponent reaches a high percent.

Side B to utilt works on some floaties at high percent

This is always a problem for Marth. Side B up tilt is good, also mid-sword up tilt hits them for power at an ugly angle. Up throw starts KOing lots of characters (besides Ganon/CF/Fox/Falco) at 200%.

Its moments like this where most Marths get impatient and let their opponent get back in the game. Sometimes you're going to end up getting a "gimp" or dtilt style edgeguard at 170% and being pretty annoyed since that would have killed at 0.

You can also in general try to be conscious that this is a problem for Marth and make a serious effort to set up edgeguards earlier in the stock. Don't end combos with strings of up airs that will give you no edgeguard and put them outside of comboing % later in the stock. Always try to push your opponent towards the ledge or combo fairs into fsmash if at all possible to give yourself a chance to kill earlier in the stock and avoid this problem.

Niko hit the nail on the head

only thiing i would like to add is try not to combo to just build on percentage

just to land hits just to get them off the edge

i remember playing certain matches where i could have done this a few hits earlier

forward B is excellent leads to upb/ fsmash / uptilt it works wonders

what m2k did in the 1st match v armada at genesis is he spaced his fsmash usually by running past the opponents hits and reverse smashing

its a surprising killer

Thanks for the great advice.
Basically, avoid damage rack and try to gimp as soon as possible?

Guys, marth has a few hidden KO moves besides the fsmash.

sideb is a kill move on its own. mofos forget about this one more than dre

whenever i get someone into kill range i just bait them into hitting my shield then punishing with upb OoS. Same frame data as falco's aerial shine OoS (including the invincibility) but has much more range. On many platform stages you can land on the top platform to avoid punishment if you miss, but you can't be punished at all if you hit them (starting at like 25%)

back air. nobody uses this move well. it has a **** ton of range and KO power.

Thanks for the info guys.
Just curious, how much range does the upb OoS have exactly? compared to his other attacks.

up B is so punishable its disgusting. Maybe some day when I'm incredibly confident in my up B game, but right now I'm not going to play that risky in tournament.

Actually, past a certain %, the stun from being hit it last longer then your lag.

Niko, thats why you practice in friendlies. Also taking risks like that in tournament are perfectly acceptable; it helps you get into your opponent's head

nair is decent,

bthrow to fsmash if they dont di

ftilt is a really good move.

up b? i use up b like how you would use fox's usmash to just punish random **** from a distance/stuff that hits your shield like spacies dash attacks. its really easy to tech chase with too out of a grab. running up to someone and randomly up bing OBVIOUSLY isn't as abusable as fox usmash but it's still good to teach yourself if you aren't as confident in your ability to like perfectly space fsmashes or whatever. the way i see it with the exception of shielding and really spaced aerials anything you can punish with a grab you can punish with up b. like marth fsmash on shield, u wd oos and up b. you just have to train yourself to substitute moves with up b

side b third hit or side b into fsmash or utilt

up-tilt ain't the only option after 1 side-b, sometimes their DI puts them out or they jump out, that's when you ftilt instead.

When I'M at early percents, I like to spam up-b after getting hit. Even better if u can CC it.

Dsmash is somewhat decent in power though it's slow and punishable. Usually people don't expect it and/or don't know how to DI it so that helps too.

Upsmash out of shield to forward smash tipper where you at

Don't do these too much though otherwise you'll get predicted and *****.
