how do i approach a falco spamming his gun and reflector?

the ****ing gun has knockback and his reflector's come out super fast. it is quite annoying. when i attack him from the top he'll just shield grab.

Reflector has a ton of lag, shield it and punish with ftilt or fsmash
instead of sh fairing away to approach, i like sh sideb fair to give Marth a little extra air. sh airdodging should also work. When close, either sh nair, sh fair, sh sideb fair, or sh neutral b to screw falco over. If he tries the reflector, roll behind or shield

Falco won't be the only one that gives you this problem. Toon Link and Pit also come to mind.

You're going to need to learn SH air dodge, crouching/shielding when the laser is about to hit you, if the Falco isn't perfect in his SH DL then running will go below the second laser too.

When you're close try full jumping behind him. He'll most likely go for a d-smash but you can ground dodge or shield it then punish him. If you do jump in front of him just ground dodge or mix things up... he's shield grabbing you because your attacking him and not spacing well.

Rushing in with aerials wont cut it bro. What you need to work on is how to avoid those annoying lasers while advancing towards him. One thing Kizzu does very effectively against TOOn LInk's projectiles is simply WALK towards them.

The thing with the walk is that you can shield at any time and resume walking (running gives you less control). just shield while walking towards them and in no time you'll be in their face. This is your chance to predict them and either hold shield again in preparation of a shine, or go in and attack with a tilt or an aerial. The concept is to steadily move towards them and shield everything on your way. Be weary of grabs since Falco will get accustomed to your new approach.

On a side note, double jumping and landing behind them is useful. The thing with shield grabbing is that you're not spacing yourself properly. Don't just hold the analog towards them. Use your DI and space yourself so you land the hit, but don't leave yourself in range for a shield grab.

Hope this helps.

ehh id have to disagree... rushing with aerials ALWAYS works for me when im playing a falco.. pretty much play an agressive game and stay in his face works best for me. and if he tries to shield grab you while you SH fair then why not just SH and grab him before he grabs you? o_o toon links projectiles are easy to dodge... they are all nothing special.. although ive been fighting link/TL since melee days.. so that may be the reasoning behind my statement..

I normally jump over the lasers and when I get close I'll try to sidestep behind him, it works sometimes , but not all the time. Throwing in an aerial approach isn't bad either, the key point is to just not take the same approach every time, otherwise your opponent will be able to do the same thing every time to repel you.

yeah, you can rush with aerials, but a good player will expect that. If you play average players (those you are good but dont go to tournaments) they will fall for it, but tournament good players will own you.

But A good tactic nonetheless for many people.

Dash to Perfect Shield
Shorthop to Air Dodge
Dash to Full Jump
Dash to Spot Dodge

Just mix these up. And when you're in range counter or spot dodge the reflector.

u can use SH air dodge u can also just keep shield rolling, u will probly get hit by 0-1 lasers per roll since ur invincible during the roll. Best bet is prolly SH air dodge though.
