How did you find out about this site?

Its weird how people join this site for absolutely no reason(in general like I just joined) and they end up as mods. Weird how things turn out like that...btw now that I remember is there a mod for the forum games? And what does it take to become a mod? Id like to become one someday

A friend told me about it a couple years ago. Didn't make an account till later, though. Found the account of another guy that I hadn't seen in years, and decided to contact him. Played melee with him last friday actually.

I saw it being mentioned all the time at GFAQs and then one day someone linked from there to here so I followed it and started looking around. I joined up intending to discuss Brawl related things but that fell through. Brawl got duller and duller for me but I did make posts here and there before forgetting about the place for a few months.

Then I came back and discovered Brawl+ and now I'm getting into Melee again, getting all the advanced stuff into my game.

I was also linked here several times from videos before, but I just ignored it then.

My story is a little random. I was a lurker at a small forum called Fire Emblem Spritez (it's pretty much dead now), and some guy known as Inui started posting a bunch of tournament results about a year ago, shortly after Brawl first came out. I was intruiged at the idea of people holding tournaments for Brawl, so I paid attention, hoping I could find an event near me. However, living in western Canada, nothing really happens. =/ So, in response to people in general having trouble finding tournaments, Inui made a thread with links to help them find tournaments in their area. Natually, most of those led to Smashboards, and this was my first encouter with this site from what I can recall. I found nothing in my area, but I discovered that there were individual boards for specific characters, so I lurked the Yoshi boards for about a year before finally joining. I joined because I finally found a tournament in Alberta. DX

I still find it strange that I know of one of the more well-known smashers not as a smasher, but as a FE debater. o.0

I didn't know this site until my friend who is really good in brawl told me about this site...
first I laugheed at him and told him that he's a nerd (sorry to all smash board visitors)
but when I was on this site i couln't stop to post and search friends...

Because members on another Forum were making vague references to "SmashBoards" and I either typed in the full URL, or looked it up on Google.

I joined a year ago, so I don't exactly remember what happened, but it's one of those two scenarios.
