Hidden Power

Type Power Accuracy PP Priority
Normal - 100% 15 0
Type depends on the user's IVs, with the following formula:

Type = (A + B + C + D + E + F) * 15 / 63
If the IV of HP is odd, then A = 1.
If the IV of Attack is odd, then B = 2.
If the IV of Defense is odd, then C = 4.
If the IV of Speed is odd, then D = 8.
If the IV of Special Attack is odd, then E = 16.
If the IV of Special Defense is odd, then F = 32.
If the IV of any are even, then their variable = 0
This number is rounded down, and then determined by the following table:

0 = Fighting
1 = Flying
2 = Poison
3 = Ground
4 = Rock
5 = Bug
6 = Ghost
7 = Steel
8 = Fire
9 = Water
10 = Grass
11 = Electric
12 = Psychic
13 = Ice
14 = Dragon
15 = Dark
Power depends on the user's IVs, as well, with the following formula:

Power = (U + V + W + X + Y + Z) * (40 / 63) + 30
If the IV of HP divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then U = 1.
If the IV of Attack divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then V = 2.
If the IV of Defense divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then W = 4.
If the IV of Speed divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then X = 8.
If the IV of Special Attack divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then Y = 16.
If the IV of Special Defense divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3, then Z = 32.
If the IV of any divided by 4 has remainder 0 or 1, then their variable = 0
In other words, if the IV is 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 30, or 31, you use the number given, otherwise, use 0.

The final number is rounded down, and that is the power of your Hidden Power.
I read that.
Now i have some questions
I have a Pikachu (lvl 3 lol) which i want to evolve into a Riachu which i want to have secret power-ice.

Now here are my questions:
If i teach it secret power when the IVs add up to ice, will it stay ice when i level up?

And... how can i easily make its IVs=Hidden Power-ice.

First question: Yes, Hidden Power will retain the same power and type whenever a pokémon evolves, or does anything for that matter as IVs cannot be changed.

Second question: There is no way.

Yeah, I mean, in like, D/P/Pt, you could like RNG abuse for HP Ice IVs, but as far as I know, it'll be dumb luck only for R/B/Y/G/S/C

Also, while we don't have it named correctly, we do have a Question and Answer thread under the title BLAHsafsafsafsaf of something like that.

Please try to use that next time. :)

Hidden Power didn't exist in first gen.

You don't know how to add, multiply, and divide numbers?

I don't get defensive, you'd be surprised how hard it is to actually get me mad. Which is actually surprising to a lot of people when I tell them how many times I've been suspended in my 3 years in high school.

Actually, he copied information from the RSE page. Where did he say he wants GSC DVs?

Also, Paladin77, IVs are values that vary from 0 to 31 that are set when you meet or otherwise catch a pokémon. There's one IV for every stat. IVs boost your stats slightly, and a level 100 pokémon with a 31 IV in, say, Attack, will have 31 more attack that the same species of pokémon with a 0 IV in attack. That is, of course, excluding EVs and Natures that are thrown into the mix.

Eggmanland, obviously.

IV stands for Individual Value, because the values are different for all pokemon. Finding them out is a bit tricky though. If you are playing in RSEFRLG (which I assume you are) use pomeg, kelpsy, qualot, hondew, grepa, and tamato berries to lower their EVs to zero (unless you already know their EVs) then plug their stats into an IV calculator.

I'm not entirely sure which one is the best, though. Any personal favorites guys?

^that only works when the pokémon is level 100. Otherwise, IVs could not be exactly determined.

The best way to get HP Ice is just to go the trial-and-error way and breed loads and loads of Pikachu and try Hidden Power on all of them and then try again until you get one with HP Ice.

Somewhere...
For GSC, IIRC, there is a way (IIR) to somewhat reliably breed Poke'mon to have a certain IV set, thus getting you the correct hidden power strength and type you want.

in RS/DP/HGSS, it's mostly random; you can improve your odds with breeding, but not by much, at all.

Unless you're extremely lucky, it'd probably be better to find a generally good IV Poke'mon with the right nature, ability, and moves (minus Hidden Power), than to raise one for a specific hidden power type (since the chance of you getting the right type, right nature, right ability, and decent IVs is next to nil unless you want to mess around with RNGing).
