On June 11th, 2023, Microsoft presented the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. This presentation was jam-packed with content, containing tons of juicy new information! Here’s what you’ll want to know about it:
- The first reveal was the long-awaited next Fable game, simply titled Fable! It boasted a very humorous trailer and will be available on the Xbox Game Pass on launch.
- Next up was South of Midnight with an absolutely gorgeous trailer. It currently doesn’t have a release date. Luckily though, we do know that it’ll be on Xbox Game Pass day one.
- Star Wars Outlaws came next. The game’s set to release in 2024 and will get a gameplay overview tomorrow.
- 33 Immortals was announced and features 33-player action! The roguelike will be available sometime in 2024 and on Xbox Game Pass as soon at the same time.
- Payday 3 received a new trailer featuring a bunch of the game’s action. It will be available for purchase and Xbox Game Pass on September 21st, 2023.
- Persona 3’s getting a remake called Persona 3: Reload! The game arrives in early 2024 and on Xbox Game Pass as soon as it launches.
- We finally got another look at Avowed. Turns out it’ll be launching in 2024 and becomes available on the Xbox Game Pass once it does so.
- Sea of Thieves is crossing over with Monkey Island in Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island. This update will be free and arrives on July 20th, 2023.
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 showed up next and will be arriving in… you guessed it, 2024! It’ll also be playable on the Xbox Game Pass at launch day.
- That’s not even the end of our flight simulator content! Microsoft Flight Simulator crosses over into the Dune universe with the Microsoft Flight Simulator Dune Expansion. This launches at the same time as the upcoming Dune: Part Two movie, November 3rd, 2023. And of course, it’ll be ready on Xbox Game Pass the moment it comes out.
- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 followed up next with a rather eerie trailer. It launches in 2024 and features day one Xbox Game Pass availability.
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth debuted and is set to release in early 2024.
- New Jersey is rapidly approaching Fallout 76 in the Fallout 76: Atlantic City DLC. Unfortunately there’s no information on a release date other than it’ll be coming soon.
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess debuts with a wonderfully ghostly flair. The release date is unclear, however it’ll be available on Xbox Game Pass day one.
- Forza Motorsport is quickly approaching and now finally has a release date. It’ll release on October 10th, 2023 as well as be playable on Xbox Game Pass.
- Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom - Shadow Over Morrowind received a lovely new trailer. The expansion will be available June 20th, 2023.
- Surprise! Overwatch 2 has story and PvE content after all! Overwatch 2: Invasion arrives on August 10th, 2023. In addition players with the Ultimate Game Pass can receive the new heroes starter pack on that date. It contains six heroes as well as cosmetics.
- Persona 5 Tactica debuts as a turn-based tactics spin-off of Persona. The game launches on November 17th and’ll be on the Xbox Game Pass.
- Starfield shows us some more gameplay and will launch on September 6th, 2023. It can be played day one on the Xbox Game Pass. It also received an announcement for a presentation. Said presentation would immediately air after the Xbox Games Showcase!
- A new 3D platformer all about climbing called Jusant was revealed. The game releases in Fall 2023 as well as on the Xbox Game Pass.
- Still Wakes the Deep, a horror game set at sea debuted. It’s slated for early 2024, and Xbox Game Pass will let you play it day one.
- A new action-adventure game revealed itself today! Dungeons of Hinterberg was announced and showcased some awesome visuals and gameplay snippets. It’ll come early 2024 and features the usual Xbox Game Pass day one availability.
- Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty got a new trailer and launches September 26th, 2023.
- Cities: Skylines 2 got itself a brand trailer and release date. The sequel to Cities: Skylines arrives October 24th, 2023 and Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play it day one.
- Atlus wasn’t done yet, believe it or not! They announced Metaphor: ReFantazio, a new fantasy JRPG which arrives sometime in 2024.
- Towerborne came next, taking cues from action-rpgs and beat ‘em ups. It’ll be playable in 2024 and Xbox Game Pass will have it day one.
- Clockwork Revolution was the final new game shown, and certainly a fitting one at that! The game’s got this rustic steampunk aesthetic and is all about time and the consequences of messing with it. There’s no release date yet however it will be on Xbox Game Pass day one.
- The Xbox Series S is getting a lovely makeover in carbon black. This new model also features a SSD with one whole terabyte. It’ll be available for purchase on September 1st, 2023 for $349 USD.
- Last but certainly not least, Starfield got a whopping 45 minute-long Direct right after the showcase ended. As you’d expect it goes into great detail about the game and teaches us a lot more about it.
Author’s Note: Boy that was a lot, wasn't it? I thought it was a pretty good presentation! The games that particularly caught my attention were South of Midnight, Kunitsu-Gami, Dungeons of Hinterberg, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Clockwork Revolution and of course, Starfield.
