i've watched the tutorial vid linked off of the compendium, but i can't figure out where i'm screwing this up. sadly, i don't have anything to record with either, but if someone could explain the rhythm you use or if i should just be trying to mash that hcb as fast as i can or something so i know what to try.

i can occasionally see falcon start to slide just barely back right at the end of the dash, then turn around, but that's it.

its pretty simple. flick the control stick foward (initiate dash) once you hear the control stick click at the edge of the controler begin to rotate it clockwise along hte bottom of the control stick NOT CUTTING THROUGH THE MIDDLE. and than once you get to the other side hold it there.

This.

Also, the faster you hit the last point (the way in which you want to woonwalk) the farther your moonwalk will be. From standing position flick < (dash) quickly flick it back (dash)> and then make half a circle < (be sure to hit the most downward position). The faster you hit the last point (the way in which you want to woonwalk) the farther your moonwalk will be.

the falcon guides on this blow imo when I first started getting good long moonwalks it was after watching the mewtwo vid on moonwalking.

like everyone said its the speed from getting one side to the other but the thing is you should try to ride a line across the control stick as close to the middle as possible but not crossing it...

dunno if it helped but yeah

easy way to moonwalk:

walk in the direction you want to moonwalk then you quickly do the moonwalk to go in that same direction and you'll get a "super" moonwalk that's way easier to do and usually longer

First dash one direction, then get the control stick to the other side AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE EXACT MIDDLE. Which means theoretically the closer you are to the middle the faster and better it will be. It matters not (although i think you have to go under the center, or maybe i just never tried going over the center) how you get there other than avoiding the center which turns you around. Most people recommend doing the half circle so you dont go through the middle, and then as you get faster/better just get closer to the middle.

63214

try to get to 4 as fast as you can for a longer moon walk.

I think there was a thread with pictures on the controller indicating how you're supposed to do it. can't find it anymore :S

I also learned from the same video I believe.

Look at this video and pause at 0:07 - 0:10, there should be a picture of how to do it.

If you're not in a dash dance you can actually go in a straight line through the center from forward to back if you do it fast enough since you can't turn around at the very beginning of it. After you've turned around at least once though you can turn directly at the start of each dash so you need to have the stick in a downward direction briefly while doing it (tilted slighty is all you need), that way when you get to behind it doesn't trigger a turn.

Also, you probably want to only press the stick the minimum amount needed to trigger the dash (like 2/3 of the way) before going to backwards so the distance you need to move the stick is shorter. If you click it all the way to the side you're going that extra 1/3 of the way once on the way over and again on the way back.
