maybe just putting the mic up to the crowd would be the best idea
if it's feasible, that way all the atmosphere and sounds would get captured

my favorite videos are the ones that just have a microphone near the TV/crowd so you can still hear the game noise and all the crowd reactions and any commentary from people who want to do commentary

Yeah, the best commentary is with a few commentators and you can hear the crowd in the background. If it's all up to the crowd, then you won't get great commentary because sometimes people say really stupid ****.
