Hand Pain

Hey guys, I've recently gotten a little bit of pain in the fingers on my right hand, especially the middle and ring finger. There's also a little bit of pain on the edge of the hand. I'm pretty sure it's because I've been playing non-stop for a long time. Gonna take a break and I hope it's not serious, I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before?

Nah usually just the right side of my thumb if I took too much time off from playin spacies. Then I just gotta blister until I build up that callus again.

Hand pain is fairly common for me when I do long periods of Smash along with other finger-intensive activities like piano. Even so, you should give your fingers a break, especially if you haven't built up that sort of stamina before.

Your fingers should hurt if you practice a lot to get really good. No lie. Which fingers hurt on which hand are obviously dependent on whether you use L or R for cancelling and the such but in either case I don't personally think it's a bad thing. If you do think it is however and need a break that might not be a bad idea either.

My hands personally started not only getting pain but they'd cramp into GC controller holding positions. Also, stretch and wiggle/move your fingers around before or after every time you play. This sounds weird but it can help.

That used to happen to me when I'd practice for awhile, all of my fingers right around the knuckles would hurt (stupid fox). After awhile you adjust though and it stops happening.

Warning: playing Fox may result in severe arthritis. Please check with your doctor if playing Fox is right for you.

Usually when I play spacies/Marth I get irritated red skin on my left middle finger. It's probably because I clench the controller really hard.

For some reason when I play spacies for too long my pinky finger slowly starts to like away on a weird angle, and I dont even notice until its come out at like an extremely awkward angle... one time it went so ****ed up like that it dislocated...

Another common problem is that my hands get kind of shaky after about 3 hours of straight spacie play...

What Ive been doing to stop hand pains is inbetween matches or even stocks I crack my knuckles and stretch out my hands real quick. Keep your hands loose not just for pain reasons..

Also fun fact, the guy who made the comment about diagnoses is a Doc main. :p

My hands have never hurt from a Nintendo console (Mario Party 64 withstanding), I had a Dreamcast.
Lol, Mario Party 1

I've actually had injuries unrelated to smash and they've severely effected my smash play. I got a bunch of cuts and bruises inside the nail of my left thumb, and it affected almost everything I did with the control stick. My dashdances were slower, I sometimes didn't fast fall aerials (and thus missed several L cancels), etc.

How can you miss an L-cancel if you DON'T fastfall your aerials? That just gives you more time to L-cancel.

Muscle memory. You get accustomed to cancelling fastfalled aerials instead of actually watching for when you hit the ground etc etc.

You'll get used to it. If you put in about 4 hours of practice without a break, you will get used to it.
