Great Abilities on Great Pokemon?

This article inspired me to post this up for us PokeCenter folk. If you don't want to read the linked page, it discusses various abilities which are truly amazing (Mold Breaker, etc.) but which are given to crappy Pokemon. Yanmega+Speed Boost for example. The article is great, but sometimes give irrational pairings of abilties and Pokemon. Starmie with Compoundeyes, as an example.

I decided to attempt and broaden what they started, here. :3
What better ablities do you think other Pokemon should've deserved?

[Note: This is NOT making up new ideas for other Pokemon, this is simply transferring other Pokemon's abilities onto Pokemon which would be more suited / threatening if they had that ability.

Rotom deserves Motor Drive. I mean, just its name is enough. Rotom with Motor Drive (albeit opening the Ground-weakness) could switch in freely on Electric-type attacks, sit behind a Substitute, and fire away with Thunderbolt+Shadow Ball.

As stated in the article, Tyranitar with Solid Rock under Sandstorm would be way imbalanced as well. Actually, Tyranitar with Solid Rock normally would be ridiculous.

Unaware was an ability I thought Slowbro should've gotten, since it only makes sense. Unaware would be ridiculous on Slaking too, since it just removes Truant and lets it rampage like a truck.

slowbro and slowking probably would be OU with unaware

slowbro would be AN AMAZING counter to gyarados with unaware, good defense and thunderbolt would make gyarados run away

simple would be broken on most OU pokes, i'd say it would be good on something that's fast with poor offensive stats (like persian)

magic guard would be amazing on any flying poke

i don't agree with many of the choices he put but i do agree that the abilities should be put on better pokes

giving latias tinted lens makes it uber
it already hits hard and is a ***** to bring down, don't make it even more broken

Even better. Let's take what you said and change it to a boosting sweeper Rotom-A, which is already pretty well known for shutting down teams that aren't prepared. It would be devastating if it could get that Speed boost.

Only Flygon should get Tinted Lens from that list. I mean, just look at it.

It's kinda a bug anyways too. Trapinch and Vibrava provide even more proof.

It's awful hard to give up ground immunity, though.

The loss of Levitate would be extremely difficult to pass up on. But being able to hit Steel-types like Metagross neutrally with an Outrage is quite a blessing.

They could just give Flygon both Levitate and Tinted Lens. Heh.

It's not like it hasn't been done before. Pinsir had a good ability and got an even better one. Flygon could be the same case.

It also makes sense because Flygon is in the Bug breeding group, where most users of Tinted Lens originate.

By most you mean all two of them: Venonat and Yanma.

What do you guys think about a Fire-typed Motor Drive that (should've) been given to Magmortar or other Fire-type Pokemon?

Any Fire-type would also enjoy having Magic Guard.

It just doesn't make sense to me. Fire=speed?

Even though Pokemon in general doesn't make sense.

I can see a version of Flash Fire that raises Attack, but not Speed.

Charizard with Magic Guard would be awesome, and actually usable. Moltres with Magic Guard would be instant OU, imo.

A type of ability called "catalyst" could raise the speed of a Pokemon when they are hit with a fire type attack.
It would allow the heat from an enemy attack to speed up the Pokemon's reaction time, and therefore their speed.

By the way, Oblivious should have some sort of battle effect. Like ignores status effects.

Wrong; because I never said it would ignore all status. I said status effects, and that means Pokemon with Oblivious would get Paralyzed from Thunder Wave (assuming they're not Ground-type) but their Speed would not be lowered. They could still get fully paralyzed. Likewise a Burned Oblivious Pokemon ignores the Attack drop but still takes damage each turn.

Oh. Ahaha, my bad. Magic Guard would seem a bit imbalanced on Pokemon such as those, right? I mean Clefable only has it with decent stats all-around and a good movepool. The birds have even better stats so they could abuse it. Just think about Moltres.

Although I'd agree on mixing up all the legendaries having Pressure.

I already explained what I wanted to mean by that.

An Oblivious Pokemon:

Paralyze - No Speed drop, but can still be fully paralyzed.
Poison / Toxic - Still gets hurt from poison. (unless is Steel-type)
Burn - No Attack drop but still takes residual damage.
Sleep - Goes asleep for half the duration. Does not count towards Rest.
Freeze - Freezes.

Ah, if only SR didn't exist and EQ on pokemon wasn't as common as baseball players on steroids...

But definetly a threat, though. He certainly has a physical movepool to use allongside eruption (flare blitz for being overall powerful, earthquake for the usual fire type stops, thunderpunch for water types, possibly reversal for good synergy with eruption, etc.). Now if only you could have that regardless of what you switch on...

There's that thing about Typhlosion. It's called using it as a Scarfed Lead.
