Hello, all! For those that don't know me, I'm Virg. I moderate things. I'm also in charge of the newly founded Discussion Leader group and I had an idea sprout in my head not too long ago.

Every individual character board is quite different and many are truly contrasting. Seeing as how I'm tasked with encouraging discussion and help throughout the boards, I thought that maybe encouraging some similar layouts on each board would help new people (or board hermits) that eventually strolled into other boards. Not that they would get lost, but just that it would be easier and the process alone would be gratifying.

So with that, I'm here for a proposition (not of that kind!): a reformatting and update of the character guide, if it needs one. I see that you guys run a very tight ship here and that's good! I see a lot the good threads, though not a main character guide, though it's probably buried in there somewhere. But I digress.

So for those of you that don't want to read: I would like to try to get every character board to clean up and organize their character board guides/stickies. Some are fine as is. Others...not so much. I'm asking this for a shot of dialogue and cross communication throughout the boards as well as making the stickies less cluttersome.

So, what do you guys say? This is all voluntary. Just wanted to try to spruce the boards up a bit

If you have any questions, please ask away.

Well we have our ~ Falco's tips, advanced techniques, and others ~ thread, but I've honestly always found that cluttered/difficult to navigate/infrequently updated(probably because Blad01 doesn't show up all that often/has his hands full with being a mod on another board). Anyway, if you dig through that thread and click a couple links, you'll eventually get to Din Peregrine, a Brawl Falco Guide which is our most up-to-date guide.

There is a lot of other good info in the Tips, AT's, etc. thread, but some of the things that are there are pretty old/disorganized, and there's a lot that should/could be in there but isn't.

I think that this is a great idea, and it'll definitely make it easier for those just picking up Falco as well as giving us that're here already less questions to answer. I'm all for it.

What do you other guys/gals think? if you reach an agreement on anything we can pretty much implement it without much trouble.

I've just edited "Falco's Tips & ATs etc" thread, and made it a little easier to read.
I keep the old threads in it, just in case some people come back on the boards and want to know what a thread has become (a good example being Ulevo's threads).

Just tell me there / by PM what you want me to add, personally I don't really feel like there is anything useful enough to be added there... Maybe the statistics threads in "Tactical Discussion", but it's more general.
Also, other mods can edit it too :) (I've seen some edits done)

And if you want a better guide, I guess we could all do a new one... But it's not needed imo. :o

I like the idea.

I think, the Falco board regulars could help re-make a guide for us. We have alotta' people I'm sure that would love to help.

Eno's guide is getting pretty old to, and could use some more recent footage/updates. And from Blad's thread with Tips/AT's/Links, we could merge/add some important links to the Guide, like the Pika boards has it.

We don't need to much anyways.

-Photos [Examples for the Attacks/Specials/Grabs/Aerials]
-Videos [Showing Advanced Technique]
-History of Falco [Origin of him]
-Pros/Cons
-True Combos (?)
-Links to useful threads
-Matchup summaries
-Intelligent Falco members

And we already have most of that. Just my two cents.

Enochuout's also butt hurt that his guide isn't stickied and he's not getting recognition or something.

New guide would be alright, but not needed.

Weirdly enough, I just started on a new Falco guide, like, two days ago. Then I got scared, because there's so much to do. :(

That Pikachu guide was really nice, though. If anyone needs some help on a new guide, that'll actually be finished, I'd be willing to help however I can!

Also, Virg, guide writing is intimidating. I got, like, an intro, and then realized how much there was to write. I guess I can try to put, like, a little bit of time into it every day, and steal some stuff from Din Peregrine, too, if Eno doesn't mind.

Any one up for helping Tails with a new guide? I'm sure Blad would help you with any moderating needs you guys have.

So pretty much the idea is to have a gigantic thread (OP/topic) that incorporates everything we know about Falco into one thing. So no links to other threads that make it hard to find stuff pretty much?

You don't necessarily have to have one giant thread. You can if you guys think that would be the easiest to navigate. But, I would like to see that all the threads that are incorporated are some what current to the metagame or are updated.

Virg, how exactly would one try to be a Mod?

Off-topic, but I never figured out how lol.

And Tails, I'll be glad to help. Pretty sure Blad/Teran will once they're less busy with exams and such.

It's a Catch-22: the people we look for to be mods are people who...aren't looking to be a mod. Yes, seems unfair but those are the best people to give moderating powers to. If you post well and contribute to discussions and become an asset to the board...you can become one. But you just can't tell mods "I want to be a mod".

Yeah...it's tough.

Anyways, glad to see a couple of guys are taking initiative.

I have no problem helping out.

The FBR tried splitting up the work by sections, but people got lazy. I think we should just have one copy of the guide and send it around so each person can edit other sections with info they know that the other person didn't know or forgot to add, in addition to starting their own sections.

Just a proposal because the other method failed miserably.

Oh, lol.

Just for the record, I wasn't looking to be mod, just wondering. :pimp:

<.<

Tails, if you've even started any of it, posting a rough draft in this/seperate thread would help.

EDIT: I agree with Denzi. But it would mess it up if people ended up adding wrong info. Just make a new thread for it, and start off from there, then we should start discussing.

We don't wanna be all talk, and end up being lazy as well lol.

How about we decide what sections there should be and then divy them up amongst active members. After that, we have one of the FBR people post a thread and each person puts up their section in a separate post?

Fore more important or larger sections we can split it up to more people.

See my post on the previous page. We tried that, it just didn't work out so well.

What we're doing is basically the same concept, except anyone can take any section and just put it up when they finish it.

Fix'd. And to add to that, uninformative/straight up ******** posts will be deleted of course if they're not needed.

Well yeah, as long as the OP of the guide knows what they're doing, they get to choose what goes into the final guide.

I'd recommend Ozz or Tommy G.

Both experienced Falco users. And good at making threads/guides.

True, but they don't seem to be around as often as some of the other Falcos here.

I'd go with someone who'd be able to update it more often.

Mm, pretty sure Tommy could be. I was chattin' with him on the GIGABITS Live Stream. He went all Falco btw :D

Ozz left Friday for Final Smash 6, so he doesn't have computer access atm I'm guessing.

If we don't have anyone, I'd suggest you or Hawks lol.

Whatever then.

I wouldn't mind doing it, I'd just need a lot of help/support from you guys because I've never really written a guide.

EDIT:

I'm going to hold off until WaterTails decides whether to do it or not, and I'll take over if he doesn't want to.

Word. I was going to say Denzi because Ozz rarely posts up here and Tommy G has leave of absences. I mean, the most important thing is that the person's going to be around. At the very worst, we can make up a mule account or something where only a few of us know the password, that way even if one of us leaves the Falco boards or Smash, it can still be updated and stuff.

That's actually not a bad idea at all.

We might just want to get permission and do this.

Denzi, if you really feel commiteed to it, then we can try the idea you had with the thread.

My opinion on trying to go about making this would be to make a very basic outline for a guide. It would pretty much be the basic stuff to using falco such as a layout for attacks, techs, etc. After that basic layout you can post it in someway for people to view to allow them to give ideas, feedback and basically just critique your rough draft for a guide.

The best method of doing this would probably to either post a thread for everyone in the Falco boards to see and give input, or you might try to create a private socal group. That way you only get the input of people you feel know most about falco or those that can give ideas to help the layout of the guide.

Denzi, mind making a new thread for the discussion of it? We can each save a post as for the rough draft, so we all will be able to add some info, and end up making a new thread once were finished.

This thread was made to discuss the outline and stuff involving the guide, so I don't really see why we need to make a new thread about it. We already have 5 on Spin walking or whatever. But yeah, new account for Falco guide. It's sort of what Louisiana does with he LA thread, only Eet actually belongs to somebody and he just shares his password. I think FloridaMeister is just a mule account though.

I'm mostly worried about lack of completion. I noticed from the Snake and Falco boards that we have problems getting things finished more so than actually getting it started.

Just as a brainstorm as a head start for while Denzi is busy.

What are some of the things worth mentioning in the guide?

The one thing for me that comes to mind is Splatting and things relating to that. It's something we know about, but really isn't widely known.

OK, done. I'll start updating the OP asap with the categories that we need to have.

Denzi, I've kind of put it off, too, to see if anyone else would be willing to do it, but you're, like, a Falco wizard, if you'd want to do it. I'd be able to proofread or write bits and pieces, though.

Also, I've finished my finals, so I'd probably be able to stay caught up on whatever it needs.

Well I went ahead and started a thread of sorts, so feel free to give me whatever you've got so far or suggest things that should be there.
