Ok so, with all of the new model hacking and such making new characters (specifically on Alloys), to use them we have to select the Alloy character in the game.

Fine and dandy, just make a CSS with the Alloys on there. Problem is though, the select icons for the Alloys are Mario Zelda Falcon and Kirby. Is there any way we can give them our own CSPs and CBPs?

I'm assuming the code fix for Alloys in the CSS code is what tells it to use those 4 characters for the 4 alloys, though there aren't other files we could use for CSPs. What if we directed it to a whole new file stored on the SD card? Same thing for multiple textures for team textures (what if we made a custom code that just directed it to read from like FitZakoBoy02.pac (and .pcs) or would that not work since it never was on the Brawl disc?)

Essentially, how similar can we get these Alloys to have the 'attributes' of a normal character (in terms of presentation like multiple textures, CSPs, group of sound files) so when we make these new custom characters we can really go all out and make great new additions.

Dude this has been said so many times.

Well, you might be able to, but you still need the CSS Fix and the code to actually play as the Alloys, and also to make some new blocks, the code for them. Then just take their portraits from in-game and put them on the spare CSS icons that appear.

As for textures, not sure you can, since the game only loads textures for the block of the character it represents according to its 4-9 costumes.

If you need anything else just POST in a thread next time, like in the BrawlBox thread for common5 tips or the Q&A for alloy help. iirc plenty of things have been done with Alloys. Although I don't suggest you alter the portraits or textures, since really, I have no idea if you CAN replace the portrait or small portrait for the new ones. Another method I had was to inject a new block directly into common5, but that didn't work. I know replacing the texture won't work since it loads the texture of the original character.

I figured that a collection of this many things all for a related subject could use its own thread, if its even possible that is and a potential to kick off the project

i was under the impression that alloys did use textures. when u open red alloy on brawlbox, u can see its texture. you can replace it and edit it and whatnot. it works fine and dandy on brawlbox. i havent tried it in brawl tho.

btw does any1 have the link to the CSS screen with the alloys? thanx :D

Well, there's about 3 unused CSS icon slots, add Zelda and Sheik's unnecessary solo icons, the random button, and there's 6 extra slots for use. Just replace the images in Brawlbox. (Left out Solo Pokemon since B+ actually needs them)

CSS portraits are a slightly different story, but adding new brres folders in common 5 isn't hard at all.

Really, it's all just a matter of someone making a code that tells the game to read the extra files in common5 and reroute the CSS icons. (I think Phantom said he was working on something along the lines of that anyway.)

Ah nice, good to know. I forgot about things like Zelda Sheik icons, though I didn't know there were 6 unused ones (warioman gigabowser and 4 alloys since they have char pacs?)

I think to have multiple textures, you'd have to have something like the alternate stage loader but for characters.

Almas already made that, it's the Alternate File Loader, a new version of it should be useable once Almas is settled with real life things first

You know this actually in theory would be easy.

Im gonna see what makes CSP's show and if IDs are given straight from texture places or if they are given them from somewhere else.

theres an alloy CSP code?

i just wonder how we'l be able to make it switch on the fly. even if it has to be hard codded for each individual alloy its worth it.

oh ok, because I vaguely remember a photo of the alloys with a csp. Photoshopped I guess?

It's just kind of annoying having two captains zeldas marios and kirbys.

EDIT: found it!

All they did was change the CSP for Mario, Zelda, Captain Falcon, and Kirby respectively. Not hard to do...

As you can tell, they still have the same names as the aforementioned characters, so this helps no way whatsoever even though it looks nice.

While multiple textures, ledge grabbing, and CSPs might not be possible yet, specials and shields are. Mr. Weegee made a "code" that allows Alloys to use specials, and he said he could use it to give them shields and (I think) dodges.

Well, since Chibo is probably not going to look at this, I'll post it in his Waluigi thread too.
