While haning on the edge, how does everyone here get back on the stage? There are numerous options, but not all are good. Which ones do you use most, in what situations, and which ones do you think are most effective?

just mix them up...

Shino stalling to a ledge hop fair is probably the safest option.
rolling is good too.
waveland dsmash is probably drephen approved

ledge hop is rarely the safest option

i'd say regular standup and waveland are the "best", as they have the least vulnerability, but everything is usable as long as you don't "normally" use them

except jumping directly off the edge, that sucks

shino stall to waveland or regular getup. You can tack a buffered roll to either for extra chances at making it into the mid of stage.

I sometimes do really low needles/nair on shield and get free grabs if they expect me to fair their shield.

I also sometimes waveland and then buffer a roll.

Or just... get on the stage. lol

Do NOT attack from the ledge unless you're fond of dying. That's seriously the biggest sign of a noob.

Waveland to buffered roll should be your bread and butter, works like 90% of the time. Even when they know it's coming it's hard to stop.

The great thing is you can vary your wavelands, so when they start expecting perfect wavelands to rolls, you can imperfect waveland closer to the stage and get on safely.

Standing up, standing up to buffered roll, wavelanding, wavelanding to ftilt, straight roll, and needling (as a change-up) are also effective.

And it should go without saying, but shino stall until they back the **** up away from you.

Completely cutting out attacks from the ledge though isn't a good idea. People mess up sometimes, even really good players mess up. Sometimes people whiff an attack thinking they can hit you through the stage with a smash or something and you can take advantage of it.

I would say attack from the edge in moderation, and don't over do it. Its like dash attacking, its great if you connect it but use it too much and you get ***** because it becomes too obvious.

Honestly, the only time attacking from the edge is better than wavedashing and rolling to get the center stage is when your opponent is from 0-25%, because damage at those percents is the most important damage in the game.

And considering his skill level that he has to ask this question, it's WAAAY better to have him do a very effective alternate 100% of the time and never learn how to do a somewhat effective alternative until he gets much better and can figure out when to incorporate it on its own. Come on, it's pretty obvious when your opponent blatantly leaves himself open to an attack and you can ledge hop fair and get back on the stage anyway.

The only time you would attack from the edge is when people can CC your attacks?

That doesn't sound that good to me.

In general I agree with you that you shouldn't blatantly attack with fair from the edge. Just wanna throw out that people shouldn't NEVER attack, just use it on occasion.

sheik's waveland from ledge is so good. my friend likes to bait ledge attacks and space a fsmash at it, and waveland shield comes out before he can react. its faster than getup.

If that occasion is like five out of 100 times, then yes.

all the ways from getting up from the ledge are good, but it is how u use them that makes them good.

For example: when a character up's just enough to grab on to the ledge, u want to use the R, or L button. so they cant grab on.

That's not what we are discussing.

We are discussing the best ways to get back up on to the stage when our opponent is. Not how to edgehog
