A psychiatrist wouldn't help him.

Adam is in the middle of a drug fueled superiority complex which allows him to completely discredit anything anyone says based on any flaw he thinks he notices in them. A shrink would be no exception, it would only be a matter of time before Adam decided he was more enlightened than his doctor and started viewing himself as vastly superior to him/her, which would make it impossible for the therapy to have any effect.

It's really sad. I'd donate but I feel it'd be no better than giving money to a homeless alcoholic.
