I've tried to send DM Brandon these links: North America Smash Ballot -
https://cp.nintendo.co.jp/us/
EU-UK Smash Ballot -
https://cp.nintendo.co.jp/en-uk/
Japan Smash Ballot -
https://cp.nintendo.co.jp/jp/ on his channel, but problem is that you have to be Sub-Subscribe on his channel to links on his comments!
A bunch of us can write up a generic, formal "Hey, wanna join our charity event?" letter later this week so we have something nice to send out to people.
Also I think it would be best to assign the task of sending out these emails to one or two individuals so that whoever we want to contact doesn't get swamped by everybody and driven away because of that. Would anyone like to volunteer for that?
I ALSO HAVE THE POLL RESULTS!
I'll start with the most important question, the date. Dates given were May 1st with 4 votes, May 2nd, 7th, 9th, 21st, 31st, and June 6th and 27th with 1 vote apiece.
Votes are kind of all over the place but the vast majority of them are in early to mid-May. I sincerely don't believe we'll have enough time to organize a charity stream in like, 3 days, so does anyone have a problem with doing this in mid or late May? What day do you all think would be best for running a stream like that? What day of the week are you usually available?
For "should we have a specific amount of money to reach?" 4 voted no, 2 voted yes, so I suppose the drive will simply try to raise as much money as possible (which might be better for a first-time drive like this anyway; I wouldn't want to discourage people if we fell short of a goal).
For "Should we have a separate crowdfunding page..." 0 voted for ONLY a crowdfunding page, 1 voted for only giving the direct Make-A-Wish link, and 5 voted for both. So apparently we're gonna run both a crowdfunding page and giving the direct charity link. Which I personally think is a wise decision. We can give away prizes from the crowdfunding page and offer people who don't trust us an out to give money to Make-A-Wish themselves.
For "Do you want certain kinds of streaming..." everybody voted for "All are fine". Which I'm happy with, because if I play my cards right and I'm able to participate I wanna play the SMRPG Hard Mode hack. I call dibs.
For "Should the event be a 24-hour marathon..." 4 people voted yes and 2 people voted no. So I guess this is gonna be a 24 hour affair, which means we'll need lots of people to help watch over everything in shifts, because we need sleep. And we can set up timeslots for streamers to sign up for to cater to the early birds and the night owls. An actual run-through of SMRPG shouldn't last more than 6-7 hours, am I right? Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga might take longer though. Anyway, the point is that people won't actually have to stay up for 24 hours straight; we can get a whole bunch of streamers (or make a whole bunch of streams) and just play in shifts. At least that's how I imagine it'd be. If someone more knowledgeable can offer their insight that'd be greatly appreciated.
For "Should streamers be required to mention voting for Geno..." 2 voted yes and 4 voted no, so it'll be totally optional for streamers. That sort of thing should probably be limited so that people don't scream "VOTE GENO 4 SMASH" every damn second during their streams and make people think the drive is nothing more than a ruse to get Smash Ballot votes -- this has to be most importantly about raising money for Make-A-Wish.
I do think that there should be a link list participants should be required to put on their stream pages though, like a link to the Make-A-Wish donation page, to the crowdfunding page, and to the charity drive website. Maybe like a charity drive logo too.
For "Should the event only host SMRPG..." no one voted for SMRPG only, 5 people voted for both SMRPG and M&L:SS, and 1 other person suggested Smash Bros. as well. Does anyone have a problem with allowing Smash streams to participate as well? Only 1 person suggested it but I honestly think it's a good idea.
And obviously the majority already voted on Make-A-Wish: the votes for which charity at this time are 3 for Child's Play and 8 for Make-A-Wish, similar to how it was before, so...
TL;DR: Most people voted for various dates in early to mid May so I guess this is gonna happen in a few weeks. And we'll have a crowdfunding page and direct donation links, and it'll be a 24-hour event, streamers won't have to tell people to vote for Geno on the Smash Ballot, both SMRPG and M&L:SS will be played (and Smash too maybe if you all comment below and give your opinion on the matter). So that's the big and small of it.
We just have to hammer down a specific date 2-3 weeks away and we can get started.
