In light of the neverending 'which generation is the best' arguments, I've decided to make a thread listing many things that people tend to think about when it comes to a new Pokemon. Please don't turn this into another generation argument, as there is already a thread for that, but feel free to use the results from here as leverage in that argument.

You may vote for Generation 1, 2, 3, or 4 for all of the questions.

1) Best Pokemon?

2) Best storyline?

3) Best region (meaning, how well did you like the way it was set up? To many rocks, not enough grass, or what)

4) Most replay value

5) Best Legendaries

6) Best glitches

7) Best Side-Quest (meaning the Battle Frontier or the Unknown Dungeon)

8) Best useable moves?

9) Best player to player interaction?

That's all. Number six maybe won't really help anything in any debate, but they're sure fun!

Voting will end when all Poke Center regulars post. This means you usually post in thie room once or more a day. Actually, it's pretty much everybody who EVER posts in here. But whatever. Have fun! I won't post my votes yet because I want to see what you guys have to say first.

1. Gen 2 Was when the Pokemon Number was perfect, there were too many and a bunch of awkward pokemon.

2. The 2nd Gen (Crystal in particular) I think was the best because they had the antics of Team Rocket, in Kanto and Johto, while they had you chasing after Suicune.

3. Kanto has Grass when it seemed correct, I could say the same with Johto, but I think this did a better job.

4. I think the 2nd Gen has some wicked replay value, tired of a region, go to the other one! Tired of fighting the Elite Four? Go to Red and Fight a Level 82 Pikachu! Want to raise a new Pokemon for the heck of it? Well, This Gen introduced Breeding!

5. Like I said with Number 1, but this time for the 3rd Gen, after the 3rd gen they got too many of them and they got a little bit awkward.

6. 4th Gen's Japanese Version Get to Darkrai or Shaymin glitch, that has to be the biggest glitch ever, bigger than Early Master Sword in Twilight Princess.

7. Battle Frontier will take my vote here, it was very challenging for me and I had fun with it.

8. 3rd Gen Redifined Competitive Pokemon Battling, a whole bunch of moves were brought out that made a huge difference, and when mixed in with the past gen's and the intro of EV's it was just really fun to battle in R/S/E.

9. 4th Gen has Wi-fi, so that definately gets my vote

1) Best Pokemon?
---2nd Gen. All of them had some great newcomers and some stupid ones, but I think this generation had the best good-newcomer to overall-new pokemon ratio. And it was before the flood of water types.

2) Best storyline?
---1st Gen. The last two generations were lame, and Team Rocket just wasn't the same without Giovanni. He was too awesome.

3) Best region (meaning, how well did you like the way it was set up? To many rocks, not enough grass, or what)
---3rd Gen. While I absolutely HATE that massive expanse of ocean, I think the mainland areas were the best. 1st Gen was a close runner-up, but I figured since they were remade for 3rd Gen anyway...

4) Most replay value
---3rd Gen. Hands down. I still play Emerald over the 4th Gen games, and once you beat the long storyline of G/S/C, there wasn't much left. R/B/Y ended after Mewtwo. But the 3rd Gen, specifically emerald, the game never seems to end. Battle Tower, the Dex, Contests, and just flat out breeding an awesome team. Cloning is a very, very nice plus for replay value.

5) Best Legendaries
---1st Gen. Mewtwo, Mew, and the flying trio (which, by the way, is the best legendary trio of them all). Back then, the word "legendary" meant something 'cause not every other pokemon was a legendary.

6) Best glitches
---3rd Gen. Emerald Cloning takes the cake. Missingno was awesome, but everything before 3rd Gen got cut off when the series jumped to GBA. Makes it feel a bit pointless to me.

7) Best Side-Quest (meaning the Battle Frontier or the Unknown Dungeon)
---3rd Gen. Battle Frontier, and for what they're worth, Contests. And if you consider the Dex a side quest, 3rd Gen is enough of a challenge without getting utterly ridiculous.

8) Best useable moves?
---4th Gen. Simply because it mixed physical and special moves into every type.

9) Best player to player interaction?
---4th Gen. Duh.

1) First Gen by far had the best Pokemon. Second gen felt fully fresh as well, but first gen had the best legendaries, the best starters, the best everything. And the types were slightly more balanced back then, instead of the landfill of water types and small collection of fire types.

2) Second Gen had the best storyline. It had more of a storyline than the first, but didn't go so far as having all of that legendary stuff tied into the plot. You found yourself fighting Team Rocket along with doing the Pokemon League Challenge, rather than doing it once or twice or dropping everything to go on a trek and fight them.

3) Third Gen had the best region. Hoenn had so many climates--the normal grass, an expanse water area, beaches (the first game to have sand), cities, a forest, a volcano, a mountainous area, a desert...I could go on. Kanto, while awesome, didn't have as much to it, and the same goes for Johto. I loved both, but Hoenn felt fresher. And uh...yeah, 4th gen had snow and grass. That's it.

4) Second Gen had the best replay value. While there are all of the legendary side quests at the end of fourth gen, second gen had you playing longer where it wasn't all sidequests. Sidequests existed in Kanto, but they weren't the only thing--you had the goal of beating all of the gyms in the process of doing them. And then eventually, you have a second epic showdown against Red, which requires a long trek through Mt. Silver, and a ton of training.

5) First Gen, as I mentioned before, had the best legendaries. Second comes in a close second, but first gen had Pokemon that felt legendary. And Mewtwo will always be the best legendary, with not only an interesting background story (imagine that, more than "ZOMG IT CREATED LAND!!1!!1!!"), but hidden deep in a cave only accessible once you beat the Elite Four because it was known for being dangerous. Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres were difficult to find. You didn't Surf across a lake to find them (honestly, what was that?), and when you found them you felt like you really accomplished something.
And for the final piece of my argument, refer to my sig.

6) First gen by far. That side of Cinnabar Island contained MissingNo and M, as well as Pokemon from the last area you were in if you talked to the man in Viridian City, and in every version (I believe this was uniform, anyways) you'd have two different Pokemon over level 100. My Red Version, personally, has a level 141 Snorlax and a level 128 Golbat.

7) Third gen, for the Battle Frontier. Emerald had a ton to do after the Elite Four--it might've won the "Best Replay Value" award for me if it were more than Emerald that is that way, as Ruby and Sapphire have little to nothing to do after the Elite Four. But the Battle Frontier was full of different fun places to explore.

8) Fourth Gen probably had the best useable moves. I hate to give it any awards, but the moves were the most developed here, so I'll have to give it to it.

9) There's not much of a contest here, it's probably fourth gen. The fact that it had WiFi kind of gets the award by default.

And those are my votes.

1)1st gen, there are way to many cool pokemon and few I would say that sucked.

2) 2nd Gen. The storyline is the most perfect we have had in a while.

3) 3rd gen. Best climate, it had rivers, waterfalls, deserts, rainforests and secret bases that were cool.

4) 2nd Gen. You have all of kanto and jhoto to explore, by far the best.

5) 1st gen....had mewtwo.

6) Not many glitches after 1st gen, so it gets my vote

7) Emerald with 2nd gen not far. Im probably going to change this to platnium after.

8) 4th gen because they had a lot of cool new moves that wernt all clones of other moves.

9) 4th gen
