Works like a charm, but whenever I open a GCT file, half of the code gets piled together as "Unknown Codes"

I'm not dumb... I just have never worked with a .jar file before...can someone help me to get it working?

Your issue most likely resides in the fact that winrar or some other archiver program has control over .jar files.

To disable the .jar file association with winrar, open the winrar program. Go to Options >> Settings >> Integration(tab) >> Then uncheck the "jar" file type.

Jar should now function properly. If not, re-install the latest Java Runtime Environment AFTER removing the file association with winrar (or similar program) so that Java can reclaim the .jar file association.

Wow thank you. Also, thanks for supporting Linux. This seems to work well so far. Also, is there any chance I could see the source? I would like to know how this works (I am a beginning Java programmer).

Where do you save the file to in the sd card? I saved it to F:/private/wii.gct and yet it did not work.
If you're playing Brawl, name it RSBE01.gct (assuming that you live in the US) and put it in the "codes" folder that's on the root of your SD card.

Does anybody have an updated database to recognize more codes in the gct files? I'm trying to reorder my CSS but I'm having trouble reading the codes line by line... :(

I kinda hate to bump, but I was wondering if someone has/could reupload the .jar file, for use under linux. I just installed Kubuntu 10.10, and even though I have wine and OpenJDK runtime installed, the exe claims there's no java environment.

My best guess is that GCTedit.exe looks for the Sun Java runtime, and can't find the OpenJDK one. If that's the case, shouldn't I be able to open the .jar manually under OpenJDK?

would be awsome if GCTEDIT would have more code data but "NO DATA" for Project M gct special codes so people don't go here and there making side projects with PM codes.

Other than that, it is a great way of editting the current gcts :)

Your answer is in the first few posts of this thread. There should be no space between your 16 characters of code or after it. Make sure it is ONLY those 16 characters.

I'm having a problem of my own. I can't seem to get this to work at all. I'm pretty new to this side of hacking and I can't figure out exactly how to make this work. I tried opening up my current RSBE01.gct file (which is in the root of my SD in a "Codes" folder) with the gctedit program, saving it as a text, adding new code to the text, opening the text in the gctedit program, and then saving that as my new RSBE01.gct. When I tried to load it through Riivolution, it loads to a black screen and freezes. What am I doing wrong?

Add the codes in a .txt file.
Then upload the .txt into the GCTEdit.

I know the codes are divisible by 16.
8 numbers, space, 8 numbers. It's how all codes are.
The Default settings, the Lone Zelda icon, the Solo Pokemon.
So you can't add them defaultedly.

Not bumpimg, as I know this is an old as hell topic.
Just posting in case others need assistance.

except by posting in it and bringing it up from being buried 10 pages back with stuff from last year you are doing exactly what bumping is
