In the food court, not at GamePad

Pricing:
• $7.00 Venue Fee
• $10.00 Singles Fee
• $20.00 Doubles Fee ($10.00/player)

Schedule:
• 10:00 AM – Spotsylvania Towne Centre Opens
• 10:30 AM – Registration Begins
• 10:30 AM-12:00 PM – Warm-up period
• 12:00 PM – Singles Tournament Begins
• Doubles Tournament will begin immediately following the Singles
• All sets will be open for casuals from the end of the tournament until 9:30 PM

Prizes:
• All participants will receive a voucher for a free hour good anytime on any day at Gamepad
• Singles pot split 60/20/10/5/2.5x2
• Doubles pot split 70/20/10
• The first 4 players to provide Wiis with all characters unlocked, a copy of the game and a TV do not have to post the venue fee.

General Rules:
• Bring your own controller
• No turbo or modified controllers. Wireless can be used, must check in with TO.
• No headsets
• No use of Marth’s Grab Release Infinites against Lucas and Ness
• No use of King Dedede’s Grab Infinites against Bowser, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Samus, and Mario
• No use of Meta Knight’s Infinite Cape Glitch
• No Pausing
• Any Infinite Move must end before the affected Character reaches 300%
• Players may take one or more of their teammate’s Stock.
• Ties will be broken by a sudden death match, 1 stock. First player out loses.

Players may register at Gamepad before the tournament date​

Gamepad is a LAN center located between Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. We are the only center in the area fully participating in the GG Circuit. Our location has 36 Xbox 360s, 3 PS3s and 2 Wiis hooked up to 20 32" 1080p HDTVs, 19 23" 720p HDTVs, a 40" 1080p HDTV and a 23" SDTV that is wholly dedicated to Super Smash Bros Brawl!

We should probably go, I really liked this place. It's been over a year but I remember it clearly. Who's going with me?

Good notice on the venue fee, folks. You'll need to provide a way to discount it or drop it down to get people to show, because quite honestly it costs most people >10 just to drive here since most of our community is in the baltimore dc metro area.

Okay, so this tournament is going to be in the Food Court of the Mall, which means:

-MUCH more space for everyone.
-More set-ups for quicker tournament games so casuals/MMs can be played sooner.
-Hype from on-lookers.
-No HDs, we're bringing all CRTs. I'm going to push for 7-10 setups.
-Quick access to DAT FOOD.

So the venue fee will be worth it. I'll try to work out some discounts.

Lobos, I'll try to get wireless controllers legalized. But everyone's got to be on-point with disconnecting. I'll update later on all this.

Not really MattyP, its such a far drive for 80% of us that we need to save money

Imagine this: There is a tourney in Northern MD on the same day or a week before/after, which is about 2hrs and 15 mins from here. If the venue fee is $5, and entry is 10, i'll go to the $5 venue just because its much more cost effective for me. I can't spend 20 bucks in gas + 30 bucks for a venue every weekend. It's just taking too much of a toll. If we save 5 bucks each week, then multiply that by 40 (about that many tournaments happen year round) thats 200 bucks, which can easily cover the travel and expenses that we have to pay for.

Also- your payouts don't account for two people getting 5th- so 4th and 5th get paid the same?

I'm glad you're working hard for a good event here- and I really love the owner of Gamepad and the venue. But it's hard to make the event worth it to everyone.

If its in a food court and not the gamepad store anymore

then it should be $5 venue

Sounds cheaper to get a hold of an area in the food court than the actual venue

Okay, I changed to Venue Fee to $7 for the jobless/travelling/whiners. :)
Also take note: Wireless controllers are allowed. Just be on top with disconnecting.
I will be updated an attendance list when people start confirming. Bring your friends!

Edit: Pot Payout corrected as well.

Sounds good. A month away, but i think i'll be there.

I think it's pretty frickin' sweet that it's in the food court. In there, we have 2x more space than we can offer here at GamePad, but you still get the GamePad service. Plus we won't be playing on HD TVs, and there will be an audience. And now you'll be like 20 feet away from Pancho Villa: Express, which is so legit.
Beat some scrubs, pwn a quesadilla, WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?

It's come to my attention that there's an event in Philly on the same day. MattyP and I are wondering if we should keep this May 15th date or would it be worth it to push it back a week or so?

its up to you guys, but I am really trying to hype my event so I would suggest you change, however I would not hold it against you to keep your date.

Sorry about the date conflict, I had no choice in dates, and this is big sponsorship so I took the opportunity.
