Thursday October 15th, 2009; 2:10 pm.

The school day has just ended. Due to cold, rainy, and harsh whether, all sports are canceled... except cross country.

The temperature is around 42 degrees with a decent amout of wind-chill. The Coach tells us to go on a "fun run": (which sounded like an oxymoron at first.) we can run wherever we want for half an hour. This also seemed like the right time to hold the annual "mud run" contest: The winner is the one covered the most with mud.

The team runs out through the doors (pretty ****ing cold, mind you.) and we head down the street that connects our high school to the neighboring middle school.

We run on a street that crosses in front of the parking lot. The road bridges over a pond that is at least 5 feet deep now because of the rain. The group ahead stops on the sidewalk section of the bridge, peering down into the pond 20 feet below.

"I'm gunna do it." says Harrison, a junior, who is too wearing clothes that are intended to be worn is warm whether.

Let me say, this is the craziest kid you have ever met. He has been in too many ****ed up adventures to count, and I could only guess what he was planning on doing.

"Dude, you're insane if you jump." said another runner.

"I think I'm gunna do it." continued Harrison.

Everyone is anxious to see what happens becuase this kid was crazy enough to make the drop. Harrison climbs up onto the railing; it's a bit more than a 20 foot drop from his point, 5 feet of freezing water, and mud. Everyone screamed and gasped as he stood up there, and then...

...he jumped feet first into the center of the pond.

As he fell no one made a noise, and then seconds later he head broke the surface of the water as he trudged his way to the edge. The whole team roared and laughed. We hopped the fence surrounding the perimeter of the pond and cheered for him as he got out.

Epic Fun Run.

This supports my theory that only hopelessly insane people do cross-country.

Reminds me of Cross Country. I got lost in these woods one time, so I just kept running. When I figured out where I was, I realized how far I'd gone. I was in Marietta. Across the border into Ohio.

EDIT: Oh, everyone should do Cross Country. It's really fun.

Lol something similar happened to me during cross country as well.

Dude that kid must have gotten lucky a lot if he is really that fearless of risks. Every risk I take tends to blow up in my face so I tend to avoid doing unnecessary risks, weelll not all the time. Its good to have some fun but at the same time you gota realize you're kinda playin with danger lolz.
I'm glad everything turned out fine for him, but I hope he doesn't attempt anything too crazy.

He told me afterward:

"I wasn't thinking about anything when I jumped. You have to enter with a completely stupid state of mind if you're gunna to something like this."
