Finally as a wii fit main also going to be watching out for acestarthe3rd(seed 161, #1 kentucky) and balance (seed 242). I think this might be the first time balance has attended an s tier in ultimate.

Mac, as far as I can tell, hasn't done much this event in terms of upsets, and that was only one Ganon and Puff upset.

Definitely silly to jump the gun in that regard, especially since the event is still in pools, and it is not like one event alone determines everything in terms of character progression, especially since I personally doubt the two will get much farther in terms of upsets.

Young Link was RFang’s original character when the game came out he still plays him regularly. I think the Pichu - Puff MU is rather even from what I’ve been hearing. Couldn’t tell you why I have no experience with either character.

This match was wild (both were low-key mashing lol), but Grayson came out on top.
Grayson having so much matchup exp against Ness thanks to fighting Awestin all the time definitely helped too.

Oh my sweet lord. That was heartbreaking for Rickles to lose that set against CDK.

In game 2, he accidentally - flame choked off ledge hang and SD’d, losing a full stock lead in a set that was a steamroll over Charlie’s Wolf - until that point.

Mostly matchup inexperience against good Ganondorf players.
Hardly anyone uses Ganon at a high level like Rickles does, and as a character known throughout the entirety of his Smash Bros existence for punishing player's bad habits, Rickles is taking advantage of all of this during this event.

Void 2-0 Goblin

One of the most entertaining, breakneck sets I have seen in a while. I wish it was best of 5.

Goblin completely altered the pace of game 2, and nearly zero to death’d Void, but Void adjusted, and put together some wild strings to pile on some Smash 4-style oppression.

The character diversity at this tournament is pretty crazy. Ganon's been the big star, but two Mewtwos, two non-Big D Ice Climbers', the return of Ike, and more than one Jr. makes for a pretty fun experience. As long as they don't put Ven vs Katakiri onstream...

But aside from that, this is one rather odd ball tournament when it comes to the characters that appear here.
Major events has been like that for so long, especially in Ultimate, so it is really surprising anymore?

Regardless, whoever loses in the loser's bracket will be out as early as 65th, so stakes are high here.
