EXPENDITURES:

  • 4WD Permit (split between five people) = $7
  • Barge Crossing Fees (split between five people from Rainbow Beach) = $18
  • (Banksia Villa, Kingfisher Resort, split between six, for two nights) = $50, OR
  • (Cathedral Beach Cabins, split between four, for two nights) = $72
  • (Toyota Troop Carrier/Manual, split between eight people) = $55, OR

  • Vehicle Petrol = $10 per person
  • Transport to and from Brisbane - Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay
    (Greyhound = $80)
(Assuming Queenslanders can drive everyone from Brisbane to Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay = only the cost of gas, minimal)
Total estimated cost:
If you're from Melbourne or Sydney = Range between $260 - $285
If you're from SEQ = Range between $140 - $265

HELP NEEDED FROM QUEENSLANDERS:

If there are those from SEQ who are able to drive everyone to Rainbow Beach with their own vehicles, we can reduce our costs significantly by averting the use of Greyhounds. Addtionally, if we have more people in our travel group, we can save more by hiring a Manual Transmission Troop Carrier, and through accomodation costs.

WHAT TO BRING:
This information will be updated and sent to attendees.
But most importantly, don't forget to bring your favourite tunes!

ENDING NOTE:

Please help by confirming your attendance as soon as possible, and please be committed to attending it after your confirmations. This helps me better plan for the event and keep costs down and options open. It also helps me to better coordinate people. I would like a response from everyone within 2 weeks, the sooner the better, so accomodations can be acquired.

************

In case you're wondering, a trip like this, post tournament, has been done before. At the end of Comrades of Kaydash in 2007, a bunch of us went down to Bryon Bay for the night:

Sloth was Jesus for a day. And Zac got laid.

If everyone interested could review or confirm their attendance by January 1, it'll be appreciated. I'll be following up with everyone individually via PM or postal mail, after new years and start with accomodation and transport reservations.

Expressions of interest for this adventure close on new years day, so I can move on with reservations! Anyone who has expressed interest or has confirmed their attendance can look forward to me following up with them personally. :)

OMG!! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! @w@

now we can drive vehicle like harlo weech and roll everywhere olol, as long as you don't squish the dingoes >:3

bonfire = hmmm, i'll ask the owners of our holiday house what's allowed!

Derp update.

Well - just did some quick research into bonfire and found this:

Campers who want a campfire in the communal fire rings provided, must bring their own firewood. However it must be untreated, milled timber (e.g. mill off-cuts), not bush timber, as this reduces the risk of introducing foreign pathogens and other pests into the park. Visitors are reminded that all flora in protected areas, including dead trees or fallen limbs, is protected by law and therefore cannot be cut or collected.

QPWS provides communal fire rings at:

Waddy Point beachfront campground
Waddy Point campground
Dundubara campground

If we can't have one at the place we're staying, it comes down wether the group is up for camping instead.

New post -- HOUSING GET!:

"Hi David

Thanks for your booking. The key will be in the door waiting for you. You'll find the house right in the middle of Happy Valley diagonally across the intersection from the pub. Just look for the white picket fence.

Check in is 2pm and check out is 10am. Remember to bring sheets (1 queen, 1 double, rest singles), pillow slips, towels and tea towels. Otherwise the house is fully self-contained. You do need to bring your own food and supplies as the local store is expensive.

Payment is appreciated 4 weeks prior to your arrival.
My BSB is XXXXXX
Account No XXXXXXXX
Please include your surname in transaction description.

Sadly there are no bonfires in Happy Valley. Happy Valley borders on National Park. You could call National Parks and Wildlife to ask their policy about fires on the beach.

Don't hesitate if you have any questions whatsoever.

Have a great holiday!

Kind Regards

John"

thought: i love how the place we're staying at doesn't even have an address <3

how remote

I'm wondering if the weather will still be terrible by the 7th.

EDIT: I'm going to pull out of this trip. Due to terrible weather and I haven't been able to get to work so I don't think taking a leave is now a possibility. Sorry about this CAO. I'd still like to catch up with you at some point over the weekend.
