chillendash = run towards edge and shine, the momentum from the dash will carry you off the edge. You can either turn-around JC bair or JC shinespike from that point.

this = something completely different.
Does the JC shinespike/bair have a jumping animation to it after the chillindash?

You can also JC to an immediate edgehog without the midair jump animation, right? Just making sure we're on the same page.

Chillindash>turn around bair is and edgeguard technique and it doesn't ment to hit with the shine first and then with bair(however it maybe possible) just with bair and you can reach longer distances with it

Hmm, I never thought of that.

That's not what I was trying to ask though. I meant like when you hit shine and you slide off, you're supposed to hit jump to cancel the shine right? Well, when you do, does the jumping animation occur at all?

Edit: BTW, could someone link me to Shai Hulud's double laser statistics and frame data thread? I can't seem to find it.

4aces: Of course theres an animation. He DJs out of his shine mid-air...so in order for you to see that, an animation has to occur. otherwise it wouldn't be possible!

logic ftw :)

Alright, alright, you got me there. But for the instant edgehog where you shine and hit jump like immediately before you slide off (I'm not really sure if this is right), you'd just fall right for the ledge. For that one, is there an animation? Well, I guess for every action you do in the game, you'd need frames, so I guess that would count as animation too. :/

if your jumpcancel doesn't finish (3 frames) before you slide off the ledge, then your jump will not happen

and no it will not just double jump. edgecancelled jumpcancel?
