Yesterday I was playing a friend online (he was using DK) and somehow when I did my
side-b flamechoke near the edge of battlefield he was spiked! It was also an aerial flamechoke and I didnt fall off with him.

Has this ever happened to any of you?

Well i just tried this and it seems that the player will always auto edgegrab.

Unless your opponent was holding down and cancel the auto grab or something.

But to answer your question, no this never happened to me. I think side b'ing that close to the edge is pretty much suicide. And I don't really like doing aerial side b's for some reason.

Ahahahaha. Hahaha.

That DK was me. And yes I was as surprised as you. I suppose it's possible that I was just holding down on the stick for some reason and that's why I didn't grab the edge. (Though I haven't done testing to confirm that under normal circumstances you would auto-grab the edge in that situation, I'm just going by what the guy above me said.)

If it spikes with high speed/velocity, it could be viable over stages that don't have grabbable edges or platforms that extend farther than the base of the stage. Off the top of my head, I can think of Summit, maybe Smashville and Skyworld.

This works wonders on the right edge of the initial platform (Not the flipside) of Frigate Orpheon.

Yes it has happened to me. I performed an aerial flame choke right on the edge and they got spiked while I landed on the ground safely.

Works if they are holding Down

It is a Bit too risky if they're in the lead.. but other than that its pretty cool

Another interesting trick is on levels like Norfair and Brinstar, if you ganoncide while the lava is rising, often you will hit the lava, but they will get stuck beneath it and fall to their death. It sounds odd, but give it a try. It just happened twice to me while playing computers
