[Smoke and smash]

Firefox sweet spots when going towards the ledge from a upwards direction, yes? Sometimes it doesn't work, depending on where I start the firefox. For example, directly above the ledge maybe 1-3 charcter's distance away, it won't grab. But if I'm higher, it grabs. Is there chart or something that illustrates exactly where firefox does and does not sweetspot?

It works from right above the ledge; almost grabbing it. You're too slow.

you need to let go of down quicker
ledgegrabs are coded to not work while holding down, otherwise hitting down while on the ledge would just infinitely regrab the ledge. amusing how the game's coded.

yea, it will grab from any distance as long as you are 1) going downward and 2) not holding down

64 =/= melee.

you cant die from a luigi ladder because there is no vertical knockback, and thus you can go infinitely high (or until one player decides to sweetspot the other )
