So, with it being 2009 and the release of Fe: SD right around the corner, I'm wondering if there are any FE fans out there waiting for the release of the American Version (unless your one of those people who are import-happy.)? The one thing I look forward to the most is being able to hear what Marth has to say for the first time on American shores...in ENGLISH. I used to play roms of FE 1 &3 but its way too confusing without being able to directly understand what the people are saying. Also, I'm kinda looking forward to its online capabilities and online shop. What are all the other Marth (and ike, i guess if youre into the game) fans looking forward to on this remake?

It looks cool, but it's been out since December in the UK :p

Anyway, is there a thread on this already?

ACCCCCCCKKKKKKK. X___________x

I'm awaiting this game with a desire to play like no other. I'd give up several of my GameCube games just to get this one NOW. D:

I'm glad that they're porting this, since it also means that other countries may get a (legitimate) port of the other Fire Emblem games also (and I really want to be able to appreciate an official translation of FE4 and 5.)

I actually heard this was pretty bad, since you need characters to die to get other characters and secret chapters? Not sure about the truth behind this, but if so, =/

I want this game so bad D:

It looks really good. Though, I wish they had given us the 2nd instead. That way we get BOTH games in one pack :p

I wouldn't be surprised if they remake that as well later on.

I'm willing to get it since I love the series, but I kinda' wished they'd add more personality to the characters. I don't like the class swap option either, from the sounds of it.

Well its not like one person's comment will sway what somebody thinks but if I remember correctly the earlier Fire Emblem games were somewhat unbalanced and this is understandable since it was the first entry. The DS one I believe is just a port that has been prettied up a bit but the same gameplay hasn't been altered for the better.

Oh and to those that aren't aware of this little bit of info. practically until Hector and Lyn appeared the Lords that YOU HAVE TO USE are liabilities and you'll have to baby them all the time.

Actually in FE4 in the first generation Sigurd was absolutely amazing, and your second gen lord was pretty solid too. FE5 had a pretty strong lord if memory serves. Even Roy from FE6 was a beast with his sword of seals. In fact Eliwood wasn't that bad to be honest, just not as god tier as some of the better characters in the game. Marth is really the only awful lord in Fire Emblem, but once he gets his falchion he's much better.

Can't remember which orb it was, either the star or life or something, in FE3 helped Marth level up with decent stats as far as not being able to promote goes. Still not a beast though. ;-;

I'm sorry but saying that Roy was good once he got the sword of seals to me personally means that he wasn't very good but yeah, I forgot about Sigard (haven't played the game he was in)

What I meant to say was after lords like hector, ephraim, and ike for example you'll find that the lords aren't incredible units that are a grade higher in ability than your other units.

Y'know? I went through FE with Hector pretty much just using iron axes because the wolf beil and his legend axe (not great imo) and didn't have any difficulty.

Roy and Eliwood are underrated in my opinion. Roy is the lesser of the two, but neither is awful. They're just somewhat above average.

But yes, most lords are not as good as Hector or Lyn, or the lords after them. Sigurd is the only one who was really as great as the lords would become later. But Marth is the only really awful lord.

And yes, Roy is only good because of the sword of seals, but nobody else can use it. It's pretty much the best weapon in the game, and the fact that only Roy can use it means that despite average stats he becomes much more useful and deadly. PRF items can affect tier placement.

roy mostly sucks because he can't promote til like 3 chapters from the end, so he is effectively severely underleveled for the back half of the game

plus, he gets trunched by all those spearwielding fatty knights

of course he's good 'by the end'... but being good for 1/4th of the game doesn't make you a good character, especially when you're forced into every level

Wow, that's why I hear a lot of people say that Roy's Fire Emblem was the worst of them all. O_o

Fire Emblem 6 is bad because it took all the advancement the series had gone through in FE1-5 and tossed it all away.

And yes, Roy's promotion is definitely holding him back a fair bit, but FE6 isn't so difficult that he's totally unusable. I will concede that he's definitely below average from mid to late game, and only gets good at the end.

FE6 was stupid hard at parts though

that chapter where you get zealot and co was one of my least favorite ever t.t .... and the chapter near the end where like 6 wyverns spawn and attack you right away every turn was annoying as well

plus, steel weapons were so ****ed inaccurate O_o

The chapter where you invade Bern is also retardedly difficult. Clarine (the troubador) was my best friend on that stage. Her speed and luck were so high that she never got hit, so I used her to bait the wyverns and then just slaughtered them with Aircalibur magic.

Yeah, FE6 definitely needed some work in rebalancing some of the weapons. And it was pretty difficult, particularly at a few chapters (it's been a while but I recall really hating ballista...) but it's not the hardest of the FE games. And much like FE7 and 8 it was stupid easy with arena abuse. Some of the FE games border on masochistic. FE5 was pretty much the worst offender from what I remember, and Hector Hard Mode is no joke either.

Really? I"ve never played a FE game where someone had to die to unlock something.

...This game is horrible. >_>

IT'S THE SAME THING LIKE ALL THE OTHER FE'S. I don't know why you'd get it anyway when you can emulate it anyway...

^I'm sorry that it's a Fire Emblem game and not a Mario/Zelda game that are also like their previous games in the series.

I heard that there is no assassin/ rogue class, or anything upgrading from a thief. I also heard that thiefs suck in that game. I am greatly saddened that my favorite classes aren't in the game and that the thief class sucks. I still might get this game, but I doubt the online will be better than luminous arc 2 online. I hope that the game is good (as in challenging or good online) at the very least.

The thieves in the original FE1 didn't promote either and weren't fighters.

Sheesh, did ANYONE here even researched Fire Emblem games before 7?

I'll probably buy it once I get the chance. The game better be difficult.

And FE 7 and above never really appealed to me. 4 through 6 were much better.

No. Wrong. Intelligent Systems needs to come up with something new. It's just a remade version, which was ALREADY RE-DONE in FE3. The nostalgia factor only lasts like a day from playing. After that, it's boring and annoying. They're songs and stuff we've already heard etc. I don't want to get into detail... Ever since FE7, these games have been going downhill into some boring schmo over and over. I mean, FE10 is a great nomination for one of the worst FE's in the series. SFC games were way better and original. Now it's just dumb rehashed crap every game Intelligent Systems throws out. And yes, I've played and beaten this one. And Lv. 5 Hard is ********. >_>

Yeah, Intelligent Systems just Fire Emblem games. They sure don't make any other games.

And I like you only complain about a Fire Emblem remake yet probably keep your mouth shut when it comes to other remakes of other games.

And we all know how fickle fans can be if a few things in the series doesn't remain the same.

Um, no ****? I've beaten all three Paper Mario's and own PPL. I don't even see how that's relevant...

And, maybe I'm just pointing out the remakes for THE FIRE EMBLEM SERIES because IT'S THE ONLY SERIES I HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. --- Anyway, I don't care if you guys buy this game...Just think twice if you choose too. Hopefully FE12 will be better. If not, then I give up on this series. Lol.

They're releasing a japanese only title on a modern console to the non-japanese speaking public? The horror! How could they.

They're remaking a game that was never translated, and on a modern system so everyone doesn't have to dust off their NES. What's the problem?

Translation patches and emulation exist...Don't talk like they don't, buddy.

And sorry, Viper, yes, Panel de Pon.
