...lol wowI've started trying something different in the way I play smash more recently, and its been really opening my eyes to new strategies, and helping me to improve my skills in other areas. I've only implemented this with Diddy at the moment, though I'd like to set it up with some other characters as well.
Basically, I see each Color of Diddy to be a different style, and depending on what color I pick when I play the character, I'll restrict myself to play differently. For example, Yellow Diddy is all about using Bananas, whereas Red Diddy doesn't use bananas at all. In this way, I'm forcing myself to experiment with different styles of play, and broaden my horizons in the process.
Here's what the different colors of Diddy correspond to for me:
Yellow: Banana Diddy. He pretty much never attacks unless there are bananas involved. Kills with combos.
Red: Aerial Diddy. No Bananas. Constantly assaults the enemy with an unending barrage of attacks. Kills primarily with FAir.
Blue: Spiker Diddy. No Bananas. Strategically attacks the enemy with banana-less combos. Kills primarily with DAir (spike).
Purple: Ground Diddy. Approaches mostly with Glide-Tossing and Dash Attacks. Kills primarily with FSmash and DSmash.
Pink: Kinky Diddy. Uses lots of Humps and Grabs. Tries to kill with Hump-Spikes often. (this one isn't developed very well yet)
And finally, the ultimate Diddy is Green. Green Diddy is the master of all styles and techniques, and combines all the abilities from the other Diddys into one. If I am going to be playing a serious match, I'll go with Green Diddy, and work on combining skills I've learned with the other colors.
So as of now, I play all colors of Diddy, though Green is my main. This might seem kinda silly, but I'm actually learning a lot from doing this. Its also fun to see peoples' reactions when I talk about different colors as different characters.
me: "hmmm... I think I might need Blue Diddy for this one..."
friend: "...wtf?"
