Falco's WD

One thing that I have trouble when playing Falco is his WD. I can WD perfectly fine with every other character, except for him.

I've tried continuously wavedashing but after 1 or 2 I ALWAYS end up jumping out of it.

Due to this, I've never been able to pillar my opponents very well. I try to pillar them by just running over to where they'll be, but it isn't quite effective. (On a side note, I've seen most falco's wavedash while pillaring, but can it be done without it?)

Is there anything specific about his timing? I've tried going into training and still have problems...

Thanks.

Sigh

Each character has a different timing for their wavedash. Sheik and Fox happen to have similar ones. Falco has a very unique one, in my opinion. Just practice at a different pace, fine tune it, then practice more.

I find oddly enough that if I practice in practice mode at 2/3 the speed, even if I'm messing up in that mode, once I get back to 1x speed, I can do it properly. People might disagree since you're messing around with the timing, but that's what works for me at least.

it's delayed... like someone else said, each character has different timing... "practice" as other ppl said, you might be doing it too fast?

and... let's make sure you know the difference between PILLARING and comboing...

pillaring = applying pressure on your opponents shield, usually consistent shine/multishine-->shffl'd dairs

pillaring is NOT shine combos -.-'

No, pillaring is when you use Dairs and shines in order to prevent shield grabs and to pressure the opponent to roll so you can punish them.

pillaring is just unpunishable (or virtually unpunishable) shield pressure that forces them to roll or wd out of shield or get the hell away from you.

peach, falco, and fox can do it i think. not sure if peach's pillar really counts, but yeah.

Falco's WD input is notably slower than most characters. Just practice, simple. Shines/Dairs/Bairs are all good for tech chasing on platforms and such. On flat land, since Falco doesn't run very fast, pinning down with lasers to pillaring is easy too.

Technically only Fox has a perfect pillar where he cant be shield grabbed. However its so impossibly hard to do that no one ever uses it >.>
People use it a lot.. It definitely isn't difficult at all to execute regularly. Half hour or so you can get it down easy.

And you're kidding yourself if think you can't get sheildgrabbed out of that.

falco's wavedash is harder than most. i find that to WD properly with falco, you have to do the WD pattern slower. like space the buttons out, but not alot
