Fellow Falco players, after just recently going to a local tournament and witnessing the speed of Falco in today's game, I can't help but wonder how else he will improve.

I just tried a double shine to BAIR and hit it once but can't duplicate it >_>

In other words I want tips on how to improve my speed on my own, don't have people within 30 minutes to play against. But that is really the only thing I am lacking.

in my opinion it's rather difficult to go at full speed and learn at the same time. However, once you are used to your strategy in a given matchup and have seen all the possible responses it is easy to increase the speed at which you begin attacking/defending/spacing. However, if you just try to increase your raw speed without knowing what to do in the situations that come up you'll just die even faster

OMG FlowinWater. Massive nostalgia.

There are some things you can't learn slow though. Like anything to do with shield pressure or approaching will almost never work unless you're doing it full speed. It's usually better to just practice on your own so you have the tool, and then when your brain tries to use said tool in a match, your fingers aren't taking up brainpower because they've done it a million times.

As far as double shine bair (I'm assuming you're doing it during shield pressure), you just have to practice. For speed in reference to movement, I think WDing is really helpful for making Falco less slow.

What they said. Usually what I do if I can't actually play anyone. Just make the stocks infinite and practice technical stuff. So you don't miss any time of tech in an real match. All it is. Practice!

I'd say go relentless on level 1 cpus. I really like Falcon / Marth / Fox.

One thing that helped me in terms of speed was to jump with control stick instead of x / y, but it's possible you already do that.

Yoooooooo Throwback! It feels so surreal telling you this, since I grew up watching you lol

All I can say really is, once you practice learning techskill religiously like Ledge cancels, multi shines, timing from shield stun and all that good stuff, you HAVE to play people that are a lot faster than you so you have a chance to perfect situations that you will inevitably stumble on.

I also play as Fox from time to time. Imo, once you start getting down his speed and such, switching back to Falco will feel a lot more easier to control.

I always thought endurance playing might be required. Go all out for as long as you can and build it up. Perhaps you'll get "faster" as a result and maintain it.

Why everyone so surprised on seeing me post? I wasnt that good I am flattered but really I ain't all that.

I really want to do the shine platform thing I have been seeing falco's do lately, opens up a lot of possibilities.

Oh and Zhu I do jump with the control stick for my double shines, the x button for everything else.

Lol. Glad to see you back on the forums Flowin. You were one of the main inspirational Falcos back in the day bro. Don't pretend like you didn't know that. You don't have to take my word for it. Just ask anyone who played Falco 7 to 6 years ago.

Honestly, as far as the multiple shines are concerned, I will need to talk to my brothers. From what I remember someone telling me, it's easier to do multiple shines with the control stick. I think it was one of my brothers, either Shiz or KeepSpeedN, that told me that a few years back when I asked how they were doing the multi shines.

Something that is helping me:

So I just bought a video capture device (usb to svideo/video)
http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-VC500...60I8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1331172375&sr=8-3

Now I have my game cube plugged into this devise and straight into my laptop. (Wall plug->gamecube->devise->laptop) I make the software full screen and now my laptop is my tv. So now I can press a button to start recording...

Anyways for some reason a combination of watching myself play on my laptop screen, and being able to review what I just played 20seconds ago has improved my gameplay 10x. The endless hours of training I have done for over the last year are paying off as all aspects of my techskill are coming together.

And its funny when my family comes in to my room to see me mashing buttons on a gcube controller behind the keyboard of my laptop.

It says it runs on 60 fps and and I don't feel any difference. Only when I am recording does it lag a bit, but most of the time I use the program just to watch what is going on instead of actually recording.
