Falco vs. Falcoand general advice

I had a couple questions regarding my matches with a few of my friends. I main falco and my friend used to main fox, but has now picked up falco in a shorter time than me, and i just can't beat him on that last stock. I can beat all his other characters except falco. Granted he lives with moogle, one of the best Melee players in Bama, so he gets more practice than me but it seems like his moves just go straight through mine.

1. As falco verse another falco, i have been trying to find a good was to counter the shield pressure when he is up close. I have found that the best option for me is to roll either left or right to escape the shffl'd dairs to shines. But i was wondering if there was another option since rolls can be predicted fairly easily and mine sometimes are. I've tried to jump out of shield and shine but i guess i can't time it right yet. Is that even an option verse a good falco? or should i just stick to rolling

2. This one is a general falco question. I have tried to watch video's and see if i notice a difference but its hard to tell. When shffling a dair with falco, to keep from being shield grabbed do i wait a fraction of a second before performing the dair against a shield so that the shield stun will last until i can land and shine to safety? or can i just dair as soon as i jump ( or close to it) Its hard tot ell sometimes if i am not fast falling as soon as i should or if i miss an l-cance for some reason. I just wanted to know what i should be trying to do.

Thanks for your help i appreciate it ^.^

i usually spot dodge the shine or buffer a roll out of that ish

yes you can get shieldgrabbed if you do the dair too soon

Learn to shine out of shield fast

i personally like to buffer the jump with the c-stick, while already going down on the control stick.

When my shield drops i press B

if he starts spacing his dairs/nairs, you can also usmash out if shield instead

Thats a great idea about queing the jump with the cstick. I never thought of that and i often try to jump out of shield to dair or neutral air only to spot dodge because i try to jump to soon. Thanks for that.

And thanks for all the tips they have all been very helpful ^.^

when i do a sh dair then shine someone's shield, i usually jump like WAY before i dair. i usually wait until like the last possible second to do the dair, and i usually do it with the C stick and fast fall at the same time, then i shine. i usually don't get shield grabbed this way. i think they could probably grab me or shine out of shield right before i do my dair, but i guess most people try to do something out of their shield AFTER the dair, i guess most people just wait for something to hit their shield?

as for trying to stop shield pressure, i'll usually shine out of shield or wave-shield backwards. for some reason, i can usually wave shield backwards after the other falco does a shine on my shield. or, what you could do is just avoid the shield pressure all together. what i recently started doing is waveshielding backwards right before the falco approaches and jab. you can follow that up with anything. most falcos approach with a laster, so you could just block, the laster, then wavesheild backwards to avoid the shffl'd ariel he's about to do.

this might sound silly, but powershielding's a good idea too. practice powershielding those lasters, it helps a crapload for me. try powershielding a laster, then doing an ariel out of your shield right after it. take a look at this if you need a visual of what i'm talking about

you can basically stop the sheild pressure all together by not letting your opponent approach at all haha. gotta love it ^^

1. You can shine out of shield (press any jump button then quickly press down b), cc shine or SDI the dair and jump out (harder and don't recommended since he'll probably try to follow). Buffering a roll is good too but not if he's really really good at predicting it.

2. Lol just do it right -.-' go to training mode and try to get the fastest dair > shine and don't stop until you get the combo meter up like almost everytime. Also, you'll probably notice that the dair hitstun gets better if your opponent has higher % (meaning that its more likely to combo at higher % than lower % if done right) and don't forget to do the shine asap. But its ok to delay the dair to get the safest shfflc -works specially good against ICs imo-

learn to JC shine/ double shine on a spot. the first shine weakens the shield and the second shine has a chance of shield stabbing. or they normally release the shield after the first shine .

if you do miss the double shine on ground level, youl perform a full jump and you can easily do a dair or just land and grab ( for a bit of mindgames)
get in a habit of double shining when the opponent shields and you can always jump out of it into a dair
