Well its pretty much what the title says. alright here is how to do it:

1.first as fox or falco, do side b

2.then immedietly tap the control stick or d-pad the other direction, as if dashdancing.

Result: the little sparkle that comes when you initiate the move will come, but when u reverse it , the sparkle and fox or falco will be facing opposite directions which can lead to some very confusing mindgames.

Discuss

EDIT: try it out in training mode at 1/4 speed first, to get the hang of it

EDIT#2: If it wasn't clear enough, Fox or Falco also go the opposite direction as well.
TRY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can only reverse it once every side b.:(
I was more wondering about the timing, can you just keep tapping it the same side to reverse it or is it like wall teching and do you only have 1 tap for it?

Other then that, this looks good, and a must for every flashy falco :demon:

oh sorry. the timing is like a dash dance. you do side b then immedietly smash the control stick in the opposite direction. try it out before you reply.

the only problem with this is if you mess up, no matter what stage youre on, youve just lost a stock.

you speak the truth tommy G. But if one were to become perfect with this technique, it would significantly improve falcos mindgames (faking an SD, etc.). I only mess up with it about 1/5 of the time. its risky but practice practice!!!;)

The think is, this isn't particularly useful. If you could get some nice wavebounced momentum, like with the laser, this could be really neat. I guess you can use it for mindgames.

I find this no more astonishing/off balancing/whatever to the opponent than simply running one way and IAPing the other way would be. And IAPing is much safer because it's way harder to mess up.

I kinda feel like this should have been discovered a year ago. I mean, we had IAP and canceling by then. I guess this is good for retreating and crap...but I wouldn't rely on it too much b/c of obvious stage screw-ups.

IAP stands for Immediate Aerial Phantasm, where you jump and immediately phantasm so that Falco still seems to be touching the ground. It's better to use this because a regular phantasm has more lag than an aerial one.

OK so that means i use IAP alot. but thats useless for mindgames isn't it?

Anyways you guys are right about it being super risky. buts its a nice trick to have up ur sleeve isnt it?

I'm curious as to why noone has pointed out that this has been known for a while and pretty much every character can do it.

You can also do it with Falco's Laser.

Thanks for sharing, though.

pure awesome lemme explain it:

first of all, with the blaster, he turns BEFORE he takes it out. for this, you can clearly tell he reverses it AFTER it starts by looking at the sparkle.

EDIT: tommy g I get your point. its sorta like waveshining. if u mess up they could severely punish u. but if you perfect it.......

so its pretty much "high risk, moderate reward"

...someone tell me this isn't just B-reversing a special, please? I must be wrong if I'm the only one who keeps saying it.

Press SideB, quickly press the opposite direction. We've been doing this for months, haven't we? Snake? Marth? Lucas? Back me up on this one!

If you lightly press backwards and press B, Falco takes it out before.

If you press B and then press backwards, Falco takes it out after and his momentum reverses direction, if applicable.

Is that it? If that's it, then it's just B-reversing.

I feel like I'm on twilight zone.

I think you're right too, but people just keep ignoring us/trying to argue even though they're WRONG.

It's just B-Reversing. There's no way it could be anything else, and it doesn't even matter because the only thing it does is look cool. There is no real match applications for this move, especially when you factor in the chance (however slim) of SDing.

/thread?

Edit: Blahblahwutever: The reason he reverses after the move starts but doesn't seem to when you B-Reverse a laser is because the laser has a longer and not as pronounced startup animation, so just because he pulls the gun after he turns, doesn't mean that he starts the move after he turns.

I am trying it.

I'm getting the exact same thing we've been doing for months. I need you to tell me if I'm doing what you're describing.

1. Press Right + B to activate a Phantasm that should move right.
2. Immediately Press Left.

And the Phantasm will go to the Left.

Geez Denzi.

You get a thank you note pinned to your locker, and I get a D- for poor grammar. This school is racist.

Against... uh... Canadians.

From what I've tried/ what I can tell, that's exactly what he's describing, a B-Reversed special.

I see no reason for us being wrong/it really being something else.

Hoo boy.

If you think I'm flaming you, I advise you to stay away from Brawl General Discussion.

Anyway, like I said, thanks for sharing. You never know when something like this is going to be something cool and new. Have fun in Falco boards.

This can be done with I think every SideB, and most Neutral B's.

so if this can be done with every side b, technically snake could be facing one way and the missile going the other way LOL.

wait does it work?

And UpB's!

I win the game!

I'm fairly sure that that only works in the theory. The problem with Snake is that the projectile (in this case, the missile) comes out after the frame window for reversing the move is long gone. So Snake has plenty of time to turn around and then the missile comes out. Such is the case with most moves.

I'm fairly sure that this would work with Link and Toon Link's arrows though, provided that they're quickdrawed to cancel the usual start-up lag.

it doesn't work like that, he still turns before the missile actually fires.

There's like a whole thread on b-reversing on the tactical boards.

I lost the game.

We're not going to send him off to look at another thread when it can be explained relatively easily right here. And that last bit was cruel...
