Why are captains even needed?

They're not essential, it's more of a crews thing im used to i guess

Since I'm leaving pretty soon I don't have a job or anything so I'm free all day. I figure a European opponent would want to play in the morning or afternoon my time.

Captains are more of a formality than anything but I still think it's good to have. They have a big role in trying to counterpick / avoid getting counterpicked.

I think the players shouldn't post the characters they are going to use yet. Eveybody that has interest in playing for their region should post the rest of the info that craigg is requesting so we can contact each other and such. Out of all the applicants that have shown interest we can than pick the 8 players for the region. The players can PM the captains like their top 3 characters and give a short summary of their weaknesses and strengths regarding things like certain matchups and stages. Then we can create a final list with the players and characters they are using. Its a little hard to get organized like this online, but I think it would make it more fair and exciting? lol

Yeah, it would definitely be helpful if everyone who wants to play for EC can PM me and Sensei with what characters you are confident using and the matchups you are good/bad at (or perhaps a rankings list in order of preferred to least preferred matchups).

I leave in 2 weeks but as long as I play for the team before I leave it should be ok. If it isn't done by the time I leave Sensei can just be the sole captain.

I'll be on AIM at various times tonight.

That was primarily the UK (England), and it was a minority - the first wave of people. Only the minor criminals were exiled, the worst stayed in England iirc. A large number of non-convict Europeans also migrated due to the gold rushes and the promises of better living standards, but now we're possibly one of the more multicultural nations on the planet (so much that we barely have what might be called a unique culture).
