eh I wouldn't really argue sex appeal is a bad thing. It can turn into a bad thing when focused on too much (cough cough XC2) but I mean look how well swimsuit ZSS and swimsuit Shulk are received. Or just Richter in general. I'd argue it can be good when handeled with taste.

But speaking of Elma...No, I can't really see her with a swimsuit alt, especially since she has other option, like a modern fashion gear woth a tank top and jeans or her late game appereance as good picks for an alt.

I mean new sex appeal, shulk and ZZS was from Sm4sh. And snake was from brawl with his ASSet.

And I'd argue that the main intent behind swimwear Shulk is humor (at least considering how they framed it in his Smash 4 reveal trailer), while Richter. . . he's just good-looking, but not really meant to be overly attractive.

I mean, if not shoved in your face like with XC2 and it's super obvious ass/titshots then it can kinda be a "cherry on the top" sorta deal. Like BotW. Draws me in because it's a great game, great graphics, decent story, amazing physics mechanics, and also I can play as shirtless Link if I want to and that's just great. And I get what you mean about relying on it too much bringing in a questionable audience, like how XC2 kinda brought a spot of... negative attention to our little corner of the internet. But overall though, having a sexually attractive character is fine imo and the best way to handle sex appeal in a game like Smash is an alt costume. Weirdos aren't gonna flood in the fanbase. There'll definitely be a couple gross people who only play Elma for her swimsuit if she has one, but I doubt people are gonna start flooding the fanbase with hentai because of it. It'll also probably be not as played as the regular costume as well, so there's nothing to worry about it being "cheap" or "just a way to sell the DLC". Nobody is gonna buy a game just for anime tiddies (unless it's a hentai game but thats its own thing) people are gonna buy something because they think it looks cool, or they know that character, or the gameplay looks tight. Fanservice, when done right, should just be a little thing that doesn't hurt but adds to the flavor of the overall product.

Ugh. I know it's pretty much inevitable people will draw porn of likable, high-profile characters (especially females), but despite loving these two characters, I hope it doesn't go overboard. Part of the reason I like Elma so much is because she is so detached from sexual behavior... She never blushes, acts embarrassed, or hits people for no good reason. I was actually relieved that she wasn't number 69 because I felt that would have undermined her maturity.

You know, Elma kinda dodge the bullet when she added to XC2 by coming in at the same time as Swimsuit Pyra. All the focus in the fanart department went towards Pyra and Elma was largely ignored.

The heart glasses, pink arm ribbons, tank top, and designer jeans with the flower on it was what my Cross (weird calling her Cross; I legit tried to make myself, name and all lol) wore for like... 90% of the game, I kid you not. (The other 10% was bootleg Morrigan from Darkstalkers gear).

But yeah, Tuxedo Elma with the heart glasses would be the ultimate alt.

Haha nice, though Rex's gundam outfit he gets in chapter 7 has actually grown on me. I kinda love it tbh, even with the random ass window and shorts. His salvager suit is really weird though, it's a bit too goofy for me.

Someone in-game had that reaction, IIRC. Her outfit reminds me of one of Kira's in Tokyo Mirage; I still think it looks hella feminine, just a little more... posh, compared to the typical stuff in that game. She's definitely one of my favorites in X2.

As much as I enjoy Torna, that's just way too out there. Minoth is neither a major character, nor is he outstandingly popular. If Elma were to get an Echo Fighter that's not from X, it'd more likely than not be Fiora, who I'd honestly also prefer over Minoth.

Fiora wouldn't make much sense as an echo of Elma assuming Elma uses her guns though

I mean not saying Minoth will ever have a chance at getting in, he's not iconic at all being a side character and if the main character of XC2 didn't get in how in the hell would a side character based of his appearance in XC2's DLC ever get in. But he would make slightly more sense then Fiora.

If you're gonna be putting in Fiora, go all the way. Include all drone types, and maybe even module switching if you can. Plus, her fighting style is not similar to Elma at all, even if they do both use dual blades. She's one of my most wanted characters, but making her an Echo is just a disservice to her character. The reason I suggested Minoth is because he actually fights similarly to Elma.

My preferred Echo Fighter for Elma would also be Cross, but I was trying to prove a point here. Regardless, Echoes can have very different animations from their basis, as Dark Samus and Chrom show.
