Alright, I am a huuuuuuuuge Bethsda fan. I own every Elder Scrolls game and the new Fallout games. I am currently playing through New Vegas right now.
I heard about Skyrim in early December, but I only saw the teaser trailer. Here is the full trailer and after seeing this I am only caring about one thing coming out this year, Skyrim. http://www.elderscrolls.com/
I am so going to play as a Nord this time around. I have always thought of as being dumb vikings, but now I see them in a different light. I normally play as an Argonian. lol, Blackmarsh is going to be hilarious. It will be super awesome amazing graphics of a....... swamp. -_-
Anyways, I have done some searching and I have found some info for you Elder Scrolls fans:
The Dragons themselves had a team assigned to them that worked on them for two years. The way that they fight is supposed to be very revolutionary. They will dive bomb you, fly by and attack you or just cook you with fire.
There is a good chance that the horses will be remade having a riding system similar to Red Dead.
In the game you are a dragon born (for those of you that haven't played Oblivion this means you are one of the last defenders of the Elder Scrolls continent).
You will probably once again... start out in a prison (more than likely). lol
Spears are not going to be a weapon. T-T
There menu system has been completely changed. Every object now has a 3D render that you can look at, zoom in and what ever. Basically like smash trophies.
The game has completely changed how your character is set up. You are no longer a battle mage or a knight or whatever you chose to be at the beginning of the game, you are what you play. As you play and level certain skills up the astrology part kicks in and you will start following what is called a perk tree. The tree is made by how you play.
The game will also level up twice as fast as Oblivion and you will no longer need to sleep to level up (more than likely).
The combat system has been revamped and personally I would expect to see a sort of live action V.A.T.S. system be used.
The world is massive, as big or larger than Oblivion. There are 5 different environments that will be in this game: glaciers, conifer forests, snowy mountains, volcanic tundra and prairies
Cross bows are more than likely going to make their debut.
Magic is a weapon this time around. So no more *use flare 5 times and then GET THE **** OUT OF THERE BEFORE YOU DIE!!!!!!!!!!
There are three main fighting style groups, one handed, two handed and bows. Obviously two handed is going to be your claymores, large battle axes, hammers and the like. One handed is going to be your daggers, shield and sword, sword and dagger, staff and sword, axe and magic (yes, magic takes up a hand) or what ever!
Come to think of it, magic will probably be stronger if both hands are devoted to it.
Bows are simple.... one hand holds the bow and the other draws the arrow.
Bethsda looked towards apple when designing ease of use controls and friendly interfaces. The leveling system is also mirrored after apple.
Here's a pic of the new astrology menu: http://tamrielchronicles.com/images/tes5pr/SkyrimScreenMenu.jpg
As you level up in your perk tree it unlocks more stars to your constellation. This constellation will be the one that you will see when you look up into the sky at night.
So, what do you guys think about the New Elder Scrolls game?
I'm just going to say right now........ it is going to win game of the year 2011. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Also, what character do you plan on making?
As always, I am at a cross roads. I don't know if I want a battle mage or an assassin. Since I am going to be a Nord I am probably going to be one handed sword and destruction magic battle mage. I will probably make a second account and be an Argonian one handed dagger wielder skilled in Illusion (I wonder if those reptiles can survive in the cold mountains).
