Out of curiosity how can someone who's really good at tournaments make?

i've heard each tournament is about $200-300 but i thought it was more

also eggm and M2K if your reading this how much do you think you've made since playing smash from...
1. friendlies?
2. tournaments?

i do believe m2k has made about 12,000 over all and eggm idk but m2k hasn't made no where near as much as PC Chris or Ken money wise.

each tournament it depends on size but say you have a 32 person tournament and $20 singles first most the time gets 55-60% of pot so 350-380 for a small tournament give or take and big tournaments its normally
500+ if not 1000+.

if mlg was still around then 10,000 for champion ship if i remember right.

move to Florida seems to be a tournament every 2 weeks that's pretty good show.

but if you keep winning 1000 every 2 weeks and minus the costs say 300 per tournament/gas/food/loven you make 300+ a week or working 40 hours a week for $9.

meh off by 4k.

yea eggms good but he wasn't doing it big when MLG was around giving out ten thousand dollar checks, but I guess you could say m2k wasn't performing at a high enough level to win those back then either

Apparently, M2k's lost OVER 9000 dollars from manipulation and bad luck for him.

what bothers me a bit is that only super pros make the most money while more (in lack of a good term) noobish players make between none and none. and sure that will encourage people to get better but lets face it has anyone gotten better to the point that they can take on pc chris or m2k or azen or ninja link and win? no and thats because as the more noobish players get better so do the super pro's.

but once again this only bothers me a little bit, there's still a chance for the noobish players to win money from more local tourneys provided they don't live in areas inhabited by super pros (like NJ players and M2k lol)

Why does that bother you? That seems pretty much like the way it's supposed to be to me.

nothing, and at this point I just hope that I'm good enough to win tourenys without ever playing, during all my free time at home I either go on the boards, use AIM, sleep, or play other games, mostly things like Super Metroid hacks, or old favorites from NES//N64 games from when I was a kid. I don't own a gamecube/wii/melee game anymore, but even if I did there would be no point playing alone.

Wait...what happened to your wii/melee? How do you not practice and still be badass?

Playing alone in melee isn't pointless, it's just to get on top of wavedashing, perfect shffling, etc.
Then again, you are m2k, so you may just remember all that stuff

M2K snatched a quarter out of my hands before when I tried to give it back to him... but that's about all I know...

I think hes a nice guy but I haven't really spoke or faced him in smash.

Sure he's made a lot of money off smash...
