Well, there was this one time in Stamina when someone died in Norfair as the lava burned him on the ledge, and he bounced up, and I guess his limp corpse suddenly stiffened, and the cadaver just hung from the ledge not doing anything.

Shadow is able to use Chaos Control in the Sonic games without the use of a Chaos Emerald.
Additionally, with the power of a Chaos Emerald, Shadow can warp time and space with Chaos Control.[2][10][3] In contrast, the Archie Comics version of Shadow can directly access the "Chaos Force" and does not require a Chaos Emerald. Shadow is also able to use a variety of other Chaos powers, such as "Chaos Spear" and "Chaos Blast".[2]

^^Yes, but he has been known to use Chaos Control without the Emeralds in games such as Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog.

in sonic adventure 2, that was in multiplayer when you couldn't see the emerald. when each character had a "slow down" attack, in the main game cutscenes he actually slows down time with the emerald.

Although in Shadow the Hedgehog, he was able to use Chaos Control at any time during the level as long as his Good meter was high enough.

Shadow gets a Chaos Emerald near the beginning of the first level. So thus, at every point in the game that you can use the Chaos Control/Chaos Blast, Shadow will have at least one Emerald.
