That wastn aimed at you, I meant to quote xian ^__^;. Sorry about that. Anyway, I was just stating that the Mother series is what led Sakurai to develop the Smash bros Series. While the pokemon series and games is the ground work of the content of Mother

Well, that too. I was refrencing the Smash in smash bros to the "Smaaaaaash" hit in the battle system of Mother. I am well aware that superstar was the basis of most of the ssb content (Ex. All-Star Mode, Trophies, etc.)

That's true. Without Mother, we might just have not the Pokemon we all know and love. Pokemon has a LOT of elements borrowed from the Mother series.

Don't see much influence in SSB, though, but that was probably a joke in your case.

Yeah, some of the influences are obvious

Takes place in modern times.
Kids are the main characters.
Sudowoodo looks like one of the monsters.

Don't forget similar map structure, bicycle, and Mewtwo being similar to Gigyas in terms of power, a bit on the design, and backstory.

Metroid isn't that popular in Japan...as for Fire Emblem...of course Mother is more popular than Fire Emblem
No it's not. Fire Emblem is massive in Japan and getting big elsewhere. Metroid only isn't popular in Japan because they hate FPS. But still Metroid is a HUGE series and would be bigger than Metroid Worldwide, yes WORLDWIDE.

Fun fact for xian:

If it wasnt for the creation of the MOTHER Series, there would be no pokemon or smash bros whatesoever .
No.

I was just stating that the Mother series is what led Sakurai to develop the Smash bros Series. While the pokemon series and games is the ground work of the content of Mother
Where are your sources please? Or are you just like Luke Groundwalker and you state your opinion as fact without backing it up at all.

That's true. Without Mother, we might just have not the Pokemon we all know and love. Pokemon has a LOT of elements borrowed from the Mother series.
It would be different. But it would probably still be there.

You forgot the mention that most staff who worked on the Mother games pretty much made up the whole staff of the Pokemon games.

Again, don't listen to xianfeng, he's just spreading his f-ggotry as usual.

Well you should try and respect other people and not use words that are clearly offensive. You would have to be a complete moron to not know how and why it's offensive. So stop using it unless you are of course a real d-ck and you like offending people then go ahead so I can ignore you.

Uh, no, dude. You used your OWN opinion and stated it like it was a legit fact. Even the reasons you had to back them up were misinformed in the first place, which were pointed out as such but you continued to ignore that fact.

No your describing what you've been doing every time I asked for a source you just ignored me. I never posted any of my stuff as fact, I've posted it as the western standpoint and the general concensus from what I've noticed.

I have every time, you just don't notice it.

And since when you're posting from a Western standpoint and general concensus? No one obviously agrees with you, nor is most of your "points" actual facts as you claim to be (such as Metroid and Fire Emblem being more popular than Mother).

I obviously don't need any sources. It's common knowledge that the Mother series is one of Nintendo's most popular series ever in the history of the **** company. Yes, Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, AND Pokemon are more popular than it, but that's only the major series. When it comes to smaller but huge series like Fire Emblem, Metroid, and Star Fox, Mother literally beats them easily. You don't see huge a-s events in Japan when every Mother game is released for the first time with Fire Emblem, Metroid, or Star Fox; yet, somehow, you see those with the Mother series. Events such as this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKpaKlatg5M

So yes, Mother is a VERY huge series. Adding up it's popularity with its cult status across the world compared to series like Fire Emblem and Metroid, yes, it beats them quite well.

To say that the Mother series is more popular worldwide than the Metroid games is completely ridiculous especially when Earthbound has been labeled a sleeper hit while Super Metroid and Metroid Prime were praised by the gaming press.

BTW, most of the Mother games haven't been released outside Japan and Metroid is having a movie (even though it wll mostly suck).

Mother is more popular? You wish.

Uh, not really. Yeah, Metroid is popular in the States, but it's pretty much dirt popular in Japan. Adding up the sales and popularity worldwide, however, yeah, Mother beats Metroid easily.

Sure ya didn't play the second game, and not the first?

Unless you lives in Japan, it would be hard to play the first or third...well, not so much the first since it's Rom is widely available in English as Earthbound Zero
