I've been messing around with Dsmash.
The purpose is to increase the chances of landing a Dsmash.

The vid shows two, or actually three, coo' ways in which you can Dsmash.

It first shows normal buffered Dsmashes (#0)
(So that new ZSSs can understand the difference better)

Then 'Dsmash out of Dash Dance' (#1)
Then 'Retreating Dsmash' (#2) + 'Retreating turn around Dsmash' (#3)

Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXoNUN170ok

The trick to all these is the timing.
All of them are based on Dash Dancing.

But, unlike Fsmash, Usmash, DA, grab, jump, and side+b out of Dash Dance,
(which are all really easy to perform),
this requires that you press C-stick down at the exact same time as you dash in the other direction.

I believe the "Retreating Dsmash" has great potential.

I found this out myself when I was playing around with true pivots. I could never do it consistently enough to consider it viable.

How precise did you find the movement for the retreating dsmash?

I've been able to Dtilt, Utilt and Ftilt out of it, but it is harder than the Dsmash,
since it requires Soft Tilting (standard controls).
You can even taunt out of it, haha.

Retreating Dsmash is what I really like the most, though.
ZSS has great use of it compared to all other characters.

Lucases might find it useful, too.
And maybe Wolfs in favor of getting a tipper Dsmash.

Frisco you know
I duno, I've always felt that the small pivot (which is what the retreating one is) is too small to actually make use of. That's just me

I stopped trying to develop this idea two years ago when I tripped while practicing it.

Its still useful occasionally, the dash back one is the best because if you trip you trip away, and not into ike forward smash.

I want a brawl mod, where everytime you trip an ike appears and forward smashes you.

The thing is, ZSS benefits much more from this than any other character,
thanks to the design of her Dsmash.

Though I am new to Zamus I see a lot of use for these. Especially for retreating as well. first thought that comes to mind is using retreating d-smash near the ledge as a fake out/chance to abuse the huge hitbox it has under ground level. Nice stuff. I'll be using this.
